  • Description

    Hello everyone!

I am Ricardo, from Nicaragua, but raised in Sweden.

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have lived an extraordinary life filled with abundant opportunities, realizing many of my wildest dreams. In light of these blessings, I believe it's my responsibility to contribute to the well-being of others, particularly those in dire need. My passion lies in social entrepreneurship and striving to bring about positive societal change.

I've dedicated my time to numerous non-profit organizations spanning diverse fields including health, housing, animal and human rights, democracy, and support for disabled children. My contributions have encompassed project management, fundraising, mentoring, consulting, teaching, and serving as a board director.

A significant initiative I led involved organizing, launching and directing a nationwide fundraising event across Nicaragua in collaboration with the Red Cross. The aim was to raise funds to aid the victims of the 2004 tsunami in Asia. Being here holds particular significance for me due to the meaningful impact of that endeavor.

I find immense passion in deepening my connection with God and nurturing my faith. Beyond that, teaching, learning, photography, and travel are pursuits that captivate my heart. The world of art, music, science, and history also holds a special place in my interests. Engaging in profound and meaningful conversations is another aspect of life that I'm truly passionate about—I approach each endeavor with fervor and dedication.

While I can be serious when the situation demands it, I generally prefer a lighthearted and jovial approach, maintaining an upbeat and positive mood. Despite my calm demeanor, there's an abundance of energy within me.

I find joy in exploring a wide range of topics through reading, making me well-versed in conversations spanning history, literature, art, politics, religion, science, astronomy, philosophy, and more.

Fueled by an insatiable curiosity, I embrace backpacking as my preferred mode of travel, relishing the opportunity to immerse myself in diverse cultures. I have been an avid Couchsurfer for 14 years and I've traversed 63 countries, establishing meaningful connections through homestays with over 130 individuals from varied backgrounds and I have over 130 positive references (My couchsurfing profile is ricardoamador)

Having called eight different countries home, including extended stays in Sweden, Nicaragua El Salvador, USA and Colombia, as well as shorter residencies in Argentina, Brazil, and México, my global experiences have enriched my perspective.

I was born in Nicaragua, but I had the privilege of spending a portion of my childhood in the beautiful city of Stockholm, Sweden. Adding to this cultural tapestry, I pursued my Master's degree in Sweden and continued my studies in the USA. Consequently, English became not just a learned language but a fluent means of expression, akin to my native tongue.

I prioritize a profound connection with nature, finding solace and joy in activities such as hiking, cycling, forest exploration, immersing myself in the sounds of nature, beach outings, mountain climbing, and the simple yet profound act of stargazing.

I am an adventurous individual with an insatiable curiosity for experimenting with new endeavors—whether they involve manuals, creative pursuits, artistic expressions, or meticulous tasks, as long as they foster learning. The joy derived from acquiring new knowledge is immensely fulfilling to me. I find solace in the cadence of good music, reading and the meditative act of drawing.

Photography serves as a profound outlet for my appreciation of the world's beauty; I find inspiration in capturing moments and transcribing my emotions through the lens.

My deep affection for animals fuels a desire to contribute meaningfully to their well-being. The prospect of engaging in "workaway" opportunities, where I can collaborate with and support animals, resonates profoundly with my commitment to preserving the gifts that nature bestows upon us.
