Description
my name is Gab! i use they/them pronouns.
i grew up in the USA and Germany, i speak English and German fluently and have dual-citizenship. i have a bachelor's in Literary and Cultural Analysis from the university of Amsterdam, but am craving the peace when i'm outside exploring nature, new cities and meeting people who share my interests in crafting, gardening, hiking, camping and exploring. soo....
im taking a gap year to travel, explore and learn new things, outside the structural school system. i have found that i can engage with and understand theoretical knowledge much easier when i am in active conversation with other people, and this is something that i am craving outside of a class-room setting.
more than theory however, i am very interested in indigenous farming practices (syntropic agroforestry, the Mexican milpa, etc.) and volunteering in gardens, construction projects, hostels, i adore physical labor, engaging with the soil and putting energy back into the earth. therefore, these activities are also something i wish to continue in my gap year, and have new learning experiences from which i can gain more knowledge about any of this!!
i've had a dream for years of building my own cabin in an area close to a city but still distant from it, maintaining my own form of nourishment and holding a safe, learning space for my loved ones. i feel workaway will help me cultivate my knowledge to achieve this dream, as well as give me room to meet new people who may become new friends :).
i love cleaning, cooking, physical labor, meeting new people and experiencing new things!
