  • Description

Hello! A warm greeting from Petr (and Alena)! 😊

It's been 1.5 years since our last Workaway experience, which was in the beautiful Algarve region of Portugal.

    --------
This time, it's just me, Petr, seeking a volunteering opportunity in Switzerland this January 2025.

I have a few free weeks and would love to spend them connecting with new people and places, as well as disconnecting a bit from computers world (I worked as a Software Engineer in the past 6 years).
I already experienced six workaway/helpx places across Europe (UK, Iceland, Austria, Portugal) where I helped with:
    - Maintenance and manual work around house and farm
    - Housekeeping
    - Animal care (dogs, cats, horses, sheep)
    - I can also help with computer things as I'm a bit of an IT geek (and no worries, even IT guys can work manually! :-)

    --------
    About us (Petr & Alena):
We are friendly couple from Czech Republic. We used to live in an old house with big field and small vegetable garden in the middle. Recently we moved to an appartment in the city of Ostrava which gave us more flexibility in traveling. We still prefer countryside stay, as we enjoy connection with nature and taking care of the garden and animals. We are definitely not shy of manual work :-)

    We both can cook.
We also don't smoke and drink alcohol at all.

In our free time, we enjoy gardening, hiking, badminton, gym, and other outdoor activities.

  • What else ...

Petr: Because of my "gut" issues, I've been experimenting with various diets over the past few years. So far, what works best for me is a partially carnivore diet, which I currently follow - that means, most of my food is animal-based with some added fruits. As crazy as it might sound at first, it's actually very simple, and I stick to this routine:
    - Morning - 4-5 eggs with half an avocado and butter
    - Lunch - 300-400g of meat (usually beef, with butter), ocasionally beef broth
    - Snack - an orange, some lactose-free dairy (youghurt, cream, or cottage cheese) with a bit of honey
    - Dinner - 200g of meat.

That being said, I'm not expecting the host to take care of my meat plan. I just wanted to give you an idea of my routine and reasons and that cooking for myself is perfectly fine :-)
