I grew up and lived in France until my late teens, then went to the UK for further studies and ended up making the English South Coast my home for the past 25 years. My professional career has been varied, and a big chunk of it was spent as a civil engineer in the UK water industry. I also have experience in catering, dog boarding and as a hobby gardener.
In 2022 I spent 3 months on a Californian walnut farm, where I helped both with the walnut processing and the care of 4 horses on site, as well as some gardening and cooking. I wwoofed in North Carolina for a whole year (March 2023 to February 2024). I spent 2 weeks on a beautiful flower farm, then 5 weeks on a rural property, mostly helping with gardening, forestry, and the raising of meat chickens. The rest of my stay saw me help and learn new skills on a goats' farm and nature preserve West of Charlotte: goats' care and milking, making cheese, kefir and kombucha, caring for various other animals (3 Great Pyrenese Dogs, an Australian Shepherd, a horse and about fifty chickens), vegetable gardening, trail clearing, as well as spending time in the kitchen cooking meals and tasty snacks for all. A tiny house in the woods became my home for 10 months and I was very sad to leave. Though not before helping deliver 22 kids to 9 does in January and February this year. What a privilege!
I also wwoofed in Portugal this summer and I've just started a round-the-world trip, planning to wwoof/volunteer some more along the way...
I am looking to be around kind and patient people on a small-ish property, with maybe a couple of other workawayers. I am smart and pick things up quickly; I can get on with tasks unsupervised and will not be afraid to ask questions when things are unclear. I am a social introvert, so will need some quiet alone time at some point during the day. I am currently studying for a MSc in Forestry (Distance Learning). I am interested in forestry, agroforestry, farming, sustainability, and want to seek out places to gain experience and practical knowledge. I am a non-smoker, I rarely drink and I am fully vaccinated.
I am fluent in English and French, and have (old!) basic knowledge of Spanish and German. Currently learning Portuguese.
Please contact me if any of this sparks your interest. Happy to hop on a phone or video call to answer questions and see if we'd be a good fit.Interests
