  • Description

Hello! I'm Paula, a 20-old girl from Denmark. I'm taking a gap year until I'm ready to continue studying. I'm also trying to figure out what I want to study.
I really want to experience the culture of the places I'm visiting. I want to have a routine so I'll really get to know the place.
I've grown up in a very creative family, so one of the things that makes me very happy is being creative. I love sewing, painting, playing music and other things. I have also got into trying all different kinds recipes. I would love to visit all kinds of countries and learn about their food. Of course, I also love travelling and exploring the world, experiencing the different cultures, and meeting people from all over the world. I have travelled some but mostly with my parents or friends.
I'm planning to travel solo right now, so that's very exciting and a little scary. I visited Australia with a friend last year, and I really enjoyed it.
I live in Denmark, which is generally a very cold and wet country. I'm definitely more myself in warm countries and I loooove the sun and the ocean! I really want to get closer to nature and to be even more independent and outgoing than I already am.
    I'm new to workaway!

I graduated from a Danish high school in the summer of 2023 and since then I've been working and travelling a bit.
When I was 15 I worked as a cleaner for a family as an after-school job.
From February 2021 to July 2021 I worked at a bakery. There, I was mostly at the register where I served costumers, but I also helped clean, wash dishes, load the delivery truck, make sandwiches, helped close the store, etc.
From April 2022 to the present I have worked at a small grocery store in my town. Here I do a lot of things. I'm at the register and serve the costumers, stock up the store with new merchandise, we also receive people's packages and hand them out to them, we also have a bakery and a kiosk with lots of items. The most important part of my experience from the grocery store is probably that we are often only two people at work, so we learn to be very independent and figure things out on our own. I often open the store by myself and heat/ bake all the bread and cakes, and I'm also responsible of closing the store.
When I was at high school, I participated in a lot of things. E.g. I helped with PR and the scenography for the school perfomance, which was made entirely by the students. Furthermore I was a part of the high school's environment committee, for which I was awarded a grant. I also took part in the school's educational committee and the pupil's council. My main subjects in school were music and English, so my class often hosted concerts for the school. It was a fun and busy high school experience!
I recently became a volunteer at a charity shop, where I help when I have spare time.
This means that I have a lot of experience with cooking, cleaning, hospitality, baking, sewing, and painting (canvases, walls, and other things). I'm a quick learner and I'm willing to learn new things.

  • What else ...

I'm trying to become more fit, so in my spare time I try to workout. I would also love to learn how to surf! That's been a dream of mine for a long time, but Denmark is just too cold for my liking.
