    Activities we are interested in:

Hey, we have been traveling for the past two years, sometimes slower (living in Canada for 1 year) and sometimes a bit faster (currently road-tripping in through mexico to Guatemala in our camper car)

  • Description

Hi We are Paula (25) and Jordan (27) from Germany and England originally but for the past year we have been working and living in British Columbia, Canada. Since July we have been travelling south with our car camper exploring the U.S. and now we have just crossed into Mexico with the hope of making it to Guatemala.

    About Paula:

I have a master's in Psychology, which I completed in an international program in the Netherlands. I really enjoyed getting to know different cultures, languages and people. I'd describe myself as a quite curious person, who likes to ask questions to really get to know someone. I spend almost all of my time in nature, especially in the forest, as this is where I feel most calm, and it gives me a lot of energy. I practice yoga as much as I can and I hope to get my yoga teacher training in the next couple of years. I already have completed a yoga Nidra training and always enjoy guiding new people through this practice. Others have described me as an old soul and a calm presence to be around.

I have worked in the mental health field whilst living in Canada and have learned so much from other professionals on the variety of methods that can help each individual. This is something I always enjoy talking about with others if they are open and have questions. I'm also currently doing an online training to become a menstrual coach, something I'm passionate about since it is connected to so many things and living in harmony with ones cycle and body can change your entire life. Although it's something I'm still trying to figure out myself.

I like to experience as much of the world as possible and have taken the opportunity to volunteer in many places in a variety of settings such as construction, gardening, and permaculture. I've worked with the elderly and disabled, volunteered in animal shelters and conservation projects. I've found that the work that gives me the most satisfaction is when I'm working with others as part of a larger community effort or working one on one with individuals.

    About Jordan:

I am a mountain/trail runner who loves being outside, surrounded by nature. I bring a lot of energy to everything I do and genuinely enjoy work of all kinds to contribute to communities or families and have purpose each day. I have a Bachelor's degree in Conservation biology and I am always interested in discovering how different people and cultures live, grow food and build.

There's is always something unique about every project I've volunteered with in the past and it gives me a better understanding of how it's possible to live off the land in a sustainable way. i have travelled to many places including the Balkans, Morocco, and the Canary islands most of which I travelled with Paula as well. I have helped with three previous Work-away hosts for a combined total of more than 5 months and it has always been one of my favourite parts of travelling.

I have experience with all stages of gardening, seeding, propagation, weeding, harvesting, seed collection as I converted my garden back home in England into an allotment to grow all our favourite vegatables. I'm also familiar with using many power tools as we converted our last camper van.

The dream one day is to have our own farm to host retreat centres so that more people can connect to themselves and nature. So the more we can learn about permaculture, sustainable construction and community building projects the better.
