Description
Hi there! My name is Nena, I'm 29, and happiest when I'm hanging out with animals, preferably outdoors. I have a very big heart for all animals and want to contribute to a better life for all of them. I'm not afraid of the hard and dirty work that comes with their care. It's actually my dream to one day set up an animal welfare project myself!
I have some experience with horses and donkeys. I'm still learning a lot about them but during a month of volunteering at a horse rescue in Nicaragua, I was helping with a new rescue and seeing an animal in despair only strengthened my motivation to learn more. Other than that, I always had cats so I know a lot about their care.
I'm someone who finds a lot of joy in a good laugh and human connection. I love sharing stories and getting to know the people I work with, though I also value my "me-time" with a book or a yoga session.
For me, Workaway is about connecting with the place I'm staying and the mission I'm supporting. I'm looking for adventures where I can work hard and be really involved, have fun, and gain the skills I need to help animals for years to come. I can't wait to meet you!

• Animal Welfare
I am specifically looking to contribute to animal welfare projects. I love animals and don't mind the physical work that comes with caring for them. My experience includes 1 month of volunteering at a horse sanctuary in Nicaragua, caring for horses and donkeys in Belgium and helping at a local dog & cat shelter in Nicaragua.
• Cooking & Household
I love caring for others through food! I’ve recently transitioned to a vegan lifestyle, and I’m having a lot of fun experimenting with plant-based cooking. I’m more than happy to cook vegan meals for the house and share what I’m learning along the way. Other than that, I can help out with cleaning the house and other housework tasks.
• Gardening & DIY
I have basic gardening skills and have helped with DIY projects like painting and light repairs. I am very eager to learn more about permaculture and self-sufficient living.
• Digital Skills
I worked in journalism and communication. I would love to use these skills to support your mission by helping with content creation (newsletters, blog posts, social media), website management and general communication tasks.
