Hello everyone,

I'm Nadine, currently living in Berlin and have been working as a project and sustainability manager in the events sector for many years.

Since May last year, I am on a one-year break from my life in Berlin and am currently traveling through Europe. During this time, far away from my everyday life in Berlin, I would like to gather many new impressions, discover the most diverse places and be inspired by them and the people there, and perhaps inspire others as well. I want to "think outside the box" & gain new perspectives, change my viewpoint, face challenges and master uncomfortable situations, learn new things and do completely foreign work (such as herding sheep or goats in the countryside for example), help with my strengths and pass on knowledge, meet all kinds of people & maybe make friends among them and gain unforgettable experiences.

I describe myself as a positive person who greets and leaves the day with a smile.
I am a sunny and active person and enjoy different sports, such as kickboxing, dancing, Pilates and especially surfing. But I also love to relax, read, go to the theatre, cinema or concerts. Music is my great love, a day without music is almost like a lost day for me. My family and friends are the most important to me, I love spending time with them and sharing memories. But I also like to meet new people, the different ways of life and mindsets fascinate me. We can learn so much from each other and grow from it.

I am a very animal-loving person, especially I love dogs and cats. But I am also very curious about other animals and I would like to get experience in treating and caring for them and learning to get closer to them.

The ocean is my favourite place - being by and in the ocean makes me truly happy, it's where I feel most at ease, it calms me and gives me energy at the same time, and it's where I always find my way back to myself. For this reason, all my journeys take me to the sea. And I hope to live permanently by the sea someday.

I am very much looking forward to the upcoming workaways and the related work and experiences and to meeting the hosts.

Due to my work as a project manager, I am very organized, resilient, flexible and responsible. Even in stressful situations, I maintain an overview, remain calm and find solutions quickly.

I have already worked in 2015 and 2018 as an assistant in a surf camp in Portugal for 3 months each, where I was mainly responsible for the guest service and organization, cleaning of the house and rooms as well as the rental of surf equipment and support of the surf instructors in the communication & organization of the surf courses.

Furthermore I like to learn and understand quickly, I am open for new & unknown tasks and I trust myself with a lot. I believe that you can do anything if you want to.

Nadine was an excellent helper, she is very independent and very qualified. We could trust her so much, she took care of our animals very responsibly, help us in the gardens very meticulously and helped us building a wooden structure with so much dedication. We truly loved having her around, we wish to host her back again very soon!

My stay and experience with Manda & Jasper at Quinta da the was one of the best I have ever had and one I will never forget. The Quinta is a breathtakingly beautiful place in a valley surrounded by mountains, the river Mondego and cute traditional villages. I loved the mornings in particular, when the clouds or fog are still hanging in the mountains and the sun slowly breaks through, and the evenings with their very special light and the clear starry sky that follows. So relaxing and calming.
I was lucky enough to be able to look after the animals and help with the olive harvest. All the animals, the sheep, cats, horses, chickens and dogs are so lovable, I have taken every single one of them into my heart. Thanks to the great instruction from Edward, the long-term helper on the quinta, I was able to look after the animals very quickly on my own and especially enjoyed the time with the sheep & chicken and learnt a lot in the process. The olive harvest was incredibly fun and I was able to learn a lot here too. The work is sometimes hard, but incredibly interesting and rewarding. We always had a lot of fun and I particularly liked the teamwork involved. Jasper also took us to the olive press and explained the whole process. I was able to experience the production of olive oil from the elaborate process to pressing, which I really enjoyed. In addition to the work, there was also enough time to get to know the area and I took some great walks with impressive views.
What Manda and Jasper have created on the farm in just a few years is impressive and I felt completely at home. Manda & Jasper are very warm people and it is important to them that the helpers feel comfortable and want for nothing. I was allowed to stay in one of the studios, a small stone house, which is very cosy and lovingly furnished. The food, which was sometimes prepared by Jasper and sometimes by us helpers, was always delicious and more than sufficient and the evenings together in the warm living room were full of funny and interesting conversations. I went to bed every night with a cosy feeling and haven't slept so well for a long time. I left the farm with a smile on my face and a tear in my eye, I still think of the wonderful and instructive time there and miss the lovely people and animals there very much. I will definitely be back and am already looking forward to it.
