Description
Hello, my name is Michaela. I'm taking a break from working in computer chip manufacturing and traveling to learn about the world and myself. This is my first time on Workaway so I'm excited to meet new people and experience places through this community.
I love learning about the places I visit - history, food, cultural practices - and find a special joy when I can find a book that connects me to what I'm learning in person. Despite reading a lot, I am a fairly active person and enjoy hiking, running, swimming, and being in a boat in my free time. Being outside is important to me and I'm happy working with my hands.
I feel best when I can contribute to the home I am staying in. With my host family in Ecuador or friends in Europe I alway clean up my space, help with cooking/dishes, and help with pets when I'm a guest.Interests

More details about your skills
I am good at sorting through large amounts of stuff and organising it, be it data in Excel spreadsheets or physical items. For my job I handled large amounts of data in excel spreadsheets and made sure that it would stay organised in the long term. I also helped organise the chemistry lab I worked in to make sure it was clean, safe, and easy to find supplies in.
I have experience with basic tools - hammer, saw, wrenches, screwdrivers, sandpaper. In college I was part of an engineering team building an off-road vehicle so I learned how to machine metal (milling and lathing) and spent a lot of time trying to put together (and take apart) our suspension system.
Outdoors, I am very good at finding directions and am happy weeding a garden or shoveling compost.
I am working on improving my Spanish (currently I'm around A2 level) and can speak basic Mandarin as well.Age
