Hello! My I am Mckay! (ma-ke) I grew up in the beautiful rocky mountains in West of the USA. Creativity fuels my days—whether it's capturing moments through photography, crafting compelling stories through film, or composing music on the piano.

I love to be active with athletics, rock climbing, running, cycling, triathlon, swimming, skiing. I also love photography, filmmaking, cooking, music, board games and card games. I love being in nature, going for walks as well as the beach.

I love creating music, being active outside, imagination and playing games. I love to teach and can teach English in a fun way, especially with lots of laughter :)

Growing up in a family-oriented community taught me the importance of strong bonds and meaningful relationships. I've enjoyed significant time caring for and creatively engaging with my nieces and nephews. I've also mentored at youth sports camps.

I am an experienced driver and have a drivers license. I can drive manual and automatic cars. I love to cook healthy meals. I can teach piano, English, photography, videography, basic coding and computers. I'm also a strong swimmer.

I prefer working with families, because I love teaching, playing and tending children. It also gives me the flexibility to work from my laptop for a few hours a week.

I've traveled around the world to places like, Guatemala, Mexico, Nepal, India, Kenya, Brazil, Thailand during the last 8 years making short documentaries about rural farmers and other non-profit stories. I currently own a digital marketing business and direct video commercials.

I've been reflecting on the time I got to spend with this amazing Catalan family! I could not have asked for such a great first experience with Workaway. David and Eli are very experienced at hosting and they truly made me feel like I was at home. They made sure I was very comfortable. There was clear communication, clear expectations and they are… read more just enjoyable people to be around. I got to stay with them for 2 months from October to December. Everything listed in their profile is exactly what you should expect. I enjoyed conversations with Eli and learned so much about Catalonia history, culture and food. Me and David also got to spend some time together as he was recovering from a recent injury. We went to a handball game which was very fun and I was able to help out with some driving. They are also amazing cooks and everything we ate was homemade and delicious. I got to spend a lot of time with Arlet and Ivet. I was able to connect with them very quickly. We played card games, did magic tricks, read together, played soccer, learned piano, laughed a lot and so much more. They are some of the smartest, kindest and funniest kids I know! We were able to find a lot of interests that we had in common. Arlet is currently into fitness and running and Ivet loves to learn new skills. One day I will beat you at chess :) While I was there, they were kind enough to include me in several family outings and events! We picked and roasted chestnuts, we went to a couple festivals and we celebrated Eli’s birthday! They were so thoughtful and made me a special Thanksgiving dinner since I was away for the holidays.
As far as the job goes, I road a bike with Ivet to school a couple times a day and helped prepare lunch and helped with the laundry. I enjoyed it alot and it never felt like work. I was also able to work remotely from my laptop in my down time which worked out well for my situation.  
The house is located at the base of a the beautiful Montsey mountains. You can walk right out of the house and go walking or running on trails in the forest. There is a bus station right in front of the house that goes to the train station. You can also take the bike to the school and catch a bus that comes frequently that takes you to the train station. From there, you can take day trips or weekend trips to cities all over the North of Spain. While I was there I visited. Barcelona, Madrid, Sitges, Tarragona, Girona, Montserrat, Cerbere and Tossa de Mar! Elisabeth was also so kind and always willing to help me arrange travel plans.
