Description
Hi there!
I'm Mike. I'm a very easy-going guy. I adapt well to different types of situations, environments, and people. I'm from and currently live in the US. But I've spent a lot of time travelling, teaching abroad, and as a digital nomad. I sometimes work remotely for a website that teaches math. I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel and work from anywhere. (Well, anywhere with internet access.)
HOBBIES and INTERESTS:
I love travelling (of course). It's like an addiction - the more I travel, the more I want to travel! It's all about meeting good people, experiencing new places and cultures, and enjoying good food. You can often find me sitting in the most interesting coffee shop I can find, having tea and dessert.
Some of my hobbies and interests are pool (billiards), bowling, card/board games, ttrpgs (like Dungeons & Dragons), table tennis, math, art, and more. Of course, I like discovering new hobbies and activities too.
I love learning about physics, philosophy, other cultures, history... anything really. And I enjoy learning languages. I'd especially like to improve my Spanish and ASL, to learn more French, and learn some Italian.
I'm very passionate about LGBTQ issues and social justice issues in general. I've done a lot of volunteering and organizing in the past including co-directing a Pride festival here in the US.
PREVIOUS ADVENTURES:
I was an "Auxiliar de Conversacion" in Spain for 5 years. Before that, I taught math in Kazakhstan (in English) for a few months. In between, I've done a few Workaways and some other similar experiences. One at a school in Denmark, one at a vacation camp in Ukraine, and one at a refugee camp in Serbia. Many years ago, I did a few month-long homestays in Italy and France where I stayed with families and helped them with English or volunteered at a school. And I've done "Pueblo Ingles" and "Angloville" a few times. Each experience was fun and rewarding in its own ways, but the best thing about them was always the amazing, unforgettable people I got to know.
Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions. -
