Hello! My name is Marianne. I'm a mother of three children who are in their twenties as thirties. I was an elementary teacher for 24 years, and I love working with children, such as reading books, teaching new skills, and cultivating wonder and curiosity. I enjoy living an active lifestyle, spending time outside, and meeting new people. I'm excited for the opportunity for cultural exchange, forming new friendships and connections, and helping out wherever needed as a workaway participant. I'm happy to learn new skills, prepare meals, do dishes, and more than anything else, get to know and help my host!!

Through my 24 years of elementary teaching experience, I've gained a passion for working with children. I particularly enjoy teaching math and reading. If I worked with children through my workaway experience, I would read them stories, play games with them, and do anything outdoors. I would let their learning be guided by their own curiosity. I have good rapport with kids.
I enjoy healthy living in every way. I have a basic yoga practice, am an avid hiker, biker, and swimmer, and a former college athlete. I love preparing fresh foods and getting to know new people through outdoor recreation.
I raised my kids to be environmentally conscious, and I've worked at a school that emphasized environmental education. I will deeply align with workaway hosts who value environmental stewardship.
I love to connect with others through music. I play basic guitar and drum.

I am 64 years old but have the energy, health and vitality of a younger person. I trekked in Annapurna with my youngest daughter for 14 days. We trained for the experience. Teaching and helping in a variety of ways through work away has been very rewarding.
