Description
Hello! I am from the US (Maryland) and have been solo traveling in Latin America for the past several months. Exploring the world, whether I'm enjoying the stillness of nature or mastering a city's metro system, is a dream come true! I spent a month volunteering at a hostel in Mexico City, and I recently had my first Workaway experience at a hostel in the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica! I'm excited to keep my travel life fresh with new experiences as I prepare to spend a month on a new Workaway in Toronto, Canada.
I like cooking, engaging my creative side, and picking up new skills! I speak Spanish and would enjoy any language exchange opportunity. I am passionate about sustainability.
I am interested in Workaway opportunities in South East Asia as I plan to head there this summer/fall.

More details about your skills
Cooking: I love to cook! Although I'm not vegetarian, I prefer to mostly cook and eat vegetarian meals. I draw from cuisines all over the world. I also like to bake. I could teach cooking skills, share recipes, and of course share my food.
Housework: I don't mind chores like washing dishes or doing laundry. I make the time go by with a podcast or just zone out with my thoughts.
Maintenance/renovation: I enjoy hands-on projects like painting or gardening. I have used power tools before and would be able to do building-type tasks with some guidance.
Family care: I have worked with children of various ages in roles such as babysitting and lifeguarding at a summer camp. I am used to working with teens in a mentor-type role given my experience as a residential advisor in a dormitory and as an admissions counselor. I took care of my grandmother (preparing food, ensuring she took her medication, companionship) on an intensive schedule when she was not doing well. I am patient and I like connecting with, learning from, and teaching people of all ages.
Hospitality/customer service: In my previous role as a university admissions counselor I supported prospective students and families by advising them and answering questions over phone or email and ensuring excellent visit experiences. As a hostel volunteer, I was the friendly face that greeted guests, helped orient them to the facilities and the city, and was there to chat or answer questions. I also bartended for the hostel.
Language: I am a native English speaker. I have studied Spanish for years and recently spent lots of time in Spanish-speaking countries. I am somewhere in the range of proficient-fluent and I could teach others.
Driving: I hold a driver's license and will likely bring my car with me to Toronto.
Writing: I am a skilled writer and editor. I was a writing advisor at my university and I currently write a newsletter about my travels. If you are looking for a Workawayer to support your small business, I could help develop language for your site or promotional materials, for example. I can also advise for or edit college application essays, resumes, cover letters, academic writing, etc.

What else ...
I love hiking and swimming, and I also love visiting museums and trying the best local food spots- some different ways to explore a new place! I listen to a lot of news podcasts and am interested in hearing more perspectives on current events from around the world. I like to read and listen to audiobooks. I document my travels in a newsletter for my friends and family. I am interested in coming to Toronto to be near my boyfriend who is moving there.
