Thanks for taking the time to read our profile, it's nice to meet you.

We are in our early thirties and leaving Australia to move to Greece. We have been together for 8 years and have both completed long travel trips abroad independently and together. Spending time connecting with new places and cultures through food, friends, natural wonders and solidarity movements has long been something that been a source of excitement when abroad.

Maria has been a part of the workaway community for many years, starting back in 2012 and all the way up until last year (2025). Last year she spent time with a few different workaway options whilst in Greece for 6 months. As a greek citizen that has spent most of her life between Greece and Australia, improving her Greek language skills was a key reason for workaway last time to be ready to explore more this time around.

Lindsay has not been a part of a workaway community before, but has volunteered overseas in Cambodia and Jordan before and with multicultural communities within Australia.

Together and individually, Maria and Lindsay value good food, nature adventures, creative hobbies, a good dance, honest communication and a fun time. We are both hard workers, are easy to get along with and up for a good time :)

I’ve worked in hospitality for over 8 years in cafes & restaurants both in Australia and overseas.

For 4 years I worked as a school-food garden educator, where I helped preschoolers and primary school students learn about growing food and preparing healthy meals. I've also worked with adults, assisting them in enhancing their food-growing skills to combat food insecurity.

Recently, I've shifted my focus to social work in the homelessness sector, specifically working with youth under 18 and adults transitioning from prison back into society.

I have also recently completed my Pilates teacher training and hope to work in studios across Greece, teaching both reformer and mat classes.

I had an incredible 4-week stay with Polly's team in Lesvos, helping with farm duties and caring for Irena at Polly’s home. The work was fulfilling, and the entire team made me feel welcome from day one. It’s clear they’re doing important, meaningful work, and I was happy to contribute. I’d love to return and volunteer again in the future!

Maria has a variety of skills and she takes all work and tasks very seriously. She is mature with a very positive can-do attitude. We really enjoyed having her around, helping both at home with babysitting and at the farm with gardening. Thank you again for everything Maria, we are always here if you want to come to Lesvos again!
