Hello,
The variety in woodworking and the spirit of animals and nature are the reasons, witch is why I am work and travel.
I was born in Germany in the city of Leipzig and I'm currently planning a road trip through Scandinavia.
My school education was from 2002 to 2007 in a primary school and from 2007 to june 2013 in a secondary school. In june 2013 I got my General Certificate of Secondary Education.
After that I did a three Years apprenticeship as a wood mechanic in the opera house of Leipzig witch I finished in august 2016 with the skilled worker diploma.
After that I work one year as an furniture maker in Germany.
My personal interest are tennis, running, wintersports, modelling, furniture construction,
draw, internet communication, cooking/bake and collect minerals.
I am working with carefulness, teamworking and skilled craftsmanship.

- Our sweet, super polite perfectionist carpenter!

Marcus was our 3. workawayer in 2022 and stay here at the beginning of June.

Marcus wrote us last year, when we sadly were fully booked. But back then we agreed to stay in contact, and try again this summer. And luckely Marcus still wanted to come up and spend some time w us.

Marcus is a… read more professional carpenter, so of course we had a lot of things we could do together. And he didnt let us down!
In this household, sometimes things changes from hour to hour, so we had to start out with some plumberwork, that REALLY needed to be fixed!! Marcus jumped right in, so it was two days w plumbing, and the we had a bathroom again!- He didnt complain at all to this change of plans, just helped out all he could!
Then it was time to start working on the project, that was the plan from start. We had to renowate a room out in the barn and put up some shelves, that neede to be build on the spot, so it would fit in. The whole project was: Getting the walls and windows ready, painting them and then building the shelves. We all work hard, and the result it the best new room for storage!
Next project was fixing the roof on the chickens yard. It was a bit tricky, but now its up, againg, and both we, and the chickens, are very happy w the result!
The rest of the time, Macus helped out in the garden, watering, removing weeds and helping out with all the tasks that fills out a day in the countryside, when you have a farm w. animals and a big garden. He did it all very well. Marcus really likes animals, so he spend a lot of time around them, taking care of everything in his own kind way. Very nice to watch his interaction w the animals from the side. ( He brought snacks for the cats from Germany- NICE touch!)

Marcus is, by far, the easiest workawayer to host. ALWAYS aksing if it was okay he did this or that... We really enjoyed having him around, he`s very nice, polite and has the most wonderful gentel personality. He will easily blend in anywhere!! He just helped out with everything, setting the table, the dishes after. Helped himself with some snacks, lunch, drinks, But NEVER WITHOUT asking first!! And ALWAYS cleaned completly up after himself.
Reg. food. Marcus is just happy to have a nice meal, no problems there. As long as its good food, he`s happy. Dont ask for anything impossible. He does has a sweettooth, so we tried to make sure he stayed happy on that account w. icecreme, chokolates, and some homebaked cakes:-)
Some nights it was really nice weather, so we had bonfires, its was great evenigs, w. a cold beer and some very nice and interesting talks. This fine man has done a lot of traveling, so we heard some nice stories from around the world. We all really enjoyed those long warm danish summernights.
Marcus really like furniture design, so him and Soren had many daily talks about the danish desing history, and he also went w. Soren to work one saturday, to see the shop where Soren work w. design furnitures.
Marcus meet many of our family members and friends, they all liked him and was very impressed by his work! And ALL OF THEM tried to make his come to their places, to help them out with some building projects. He`s just so good and sweet!

Marcus drove up here in his car, so on some of his days of, he went away on a camping trip to the westcoast. He also did some driving around in our area and he really enjoyed the nature and the seaside, thanking us for giving him tips on what to see!
Marcus finished his Scdinavian trip w. one week in Sweeden, after 2 weeks here. And we of course offered him a bed on his way back home to Germany. So he was back for one night, before driving home. It was a really nice gentel way to say goodbye and slowly separate from such a wonderful person.

All put together! If Marcus gets in contact w. you, just say: YES PLEASE!

Marcus, we know your plan is to go down under next year, But IF your plans changes, please know that you have us to rely on! We were so happy to host you! Thankyou so much for not giving up on us last summer, and comming up this summer to help out. WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST IN THE FUTURE! And hope that someday you will swing by our doorstep once again! Maby on your way to Norway;-)
