First things first:
I have conscientiously observed Covid 19 safety precautions since the beginning of the pandemic, living in my western North Carolina rural community. I normally travel south to Louisiana every winter but I did not do that in winter 2020. I will travel to workaway assignments in 2021 by truck camping in state and national parks. I will have received both covid vaccines before traveling. I have had one covid test so far, testing negative and I will have another before traveling. I am only interested in being a workawayer for people and places also observing covid precautions and will gladly observe your personal and state safe practices.
I am a very youthful, adventurous boomer who likes to travel/explore/learn and be of service.
I am a good worker, efficient, organized and a good brainstormer/problem solver. I work well with a team effort but don't need supervision if working solo. You can give me a project and go do what you need to do.
I love meeting new people of all ages and backgrounds, as well as animals and environments. I have a good sense of humor and love to learn new things. I have a love of nature, lots of gardening and cooking experience and managing projects for non-profits and working as a singer and teacher of many styles of music, including traditional French songs of Louisiana and Appalachian ballads. I love to walk, swim, read, meditate, dance and sing. I enjoy an easy balance of social time and private quiet time.
I normally live in a wonderful vintage 5th wheel camper for three seasons of the year in the Southern Appalachian mountains of Western North Carolina and spend several months in the winter traveling in the south, mostly Louisiana and Texas. I chose not to do that this winter due to Covid mindfulness.. If Covid continues to make traveling long distances problematic I hope to do workaways closer to home... But if possibleI I would like to do workaways in the southwest or the far northeast in 202! . I would love to work and learn with you!
I am a skilled cook, gardener (lasagna style
raised beds, container gardens, hugelkultur, companion planting), organizer, experienced with caring for houses, landscapes, and some small farm animals. I know how to use hand and garden tools, weed eater. Clear communication and organizational skills.
I have taught Cajun and zydeco dance and presented many traditional Louisiana French music workshops in settings as diverse as English pubs, festival stages, and house concert living rooms.

More details about my language interests
I I would like to become more conversational in French, Spanish and ASL and would love to begin learning German.
When I was a kid my father used to say that being outside in nature was his "church". I didn't really understand that then but I do now...that's now true for me! As a young person I was kicked by my cowgirl cousins' horses and I've been afraid of horses since then.I would love to get over that fear.
codeine and I'm chemically sensitive so I try to avoid scented cleaning, laundry and personal products.
Special dietary requirements
I mostly eat gluten free but provide my own if the household doesn't.
