Description
Hello! I love the outdoors (hiking, cycling, kayaking, cross-country skiing) and am politically engaged for environmental causes, democracy and civil rights. Mostly, I stay in Europe for holidays, but in 2026 I plan a travel to Greenland (and after also to Iceland and Faroe Islands), for which I've joined the platform, because I'd like to spend some more time and get to know locals especially in Greenland.

I would love to learn at least a bit of Greenlandic, also already before my stay there (for example via a regular zoom call), and am of course happy to share vice versa some of my language skills. For example, if you would like to learn German or English, we could do a weekly call, where for half an hour I can practice Greenlandic with you, and for half an hour you can practice your German or English with me.

I could cook (mostly vegetarian), help in household and with child-caretaking, and am happy also to do any simple tasks around the house and garden. I speak several languages and am happy to teach/practice/exchange some of it. Happy to share knowledge about politics as well. My work experience is mostly in nature conservation, project management, organizational development, and policy work, and I am happy to share this as well. Plus, I've helped friends who have a farm for the last ten years every once in a while, with different tasks around sheep (feeding, separating herds, moving them to another pasture), fruit picking in the orchard and harvesting and any kind of work in the vegetable garden, and infrastructure work like setting up fences for sheep and chicken, so any work like this is what I would really love to do.

I am a bit afraid of dogs, that is important to know. So if the dog listens to you and follows commands, and you give me some quiet time to get to know him, it will all be fine especially as long as you're around. I don't like to stay by myself with dogs for a longer time though.
Other than that: I am just looking forward to my adventure in Greenland and hope to meet local people there! I will probably be there from end of March to beginning of June 2026, hope to experience both the end of winter (with dog sled travel over the frozen sea and fjords) and spring and early summer with hopefully already some opportunities for whale watching and hiking and experiencing icebergs and the inland ice. Any hints are welcome!
