Hi! I’m Lydia,

I’m a textile artist and student from London. My background is in fashion, but I have been living in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. I've been collaborating with various weaving cooperatives throughout Guatemala, and I intend to continue this work in Oaxaca or the Guadalajara region.

I am a practical, hands-on person who loves to get my hands dirty building and gardening. My interests include community programs, artistry, design, and actively expanding my knowledge of permaculture, indigenous knowledge, and languages.

I am passionate about selflessly serving others with respect and confidence. I have extensive experience in supporting elderly individuals, particularly those with Alzheimer's, and have worked in multiple charity centers counseling vulnerable women in diverse communities.

Additionally, I am a dedicated nanny with five years of experience nurturing children's confidence, independence, and charisma. I am skilled in providing educational support, including English tutoring.

Having grown up in a very musical family, I have a keen interest in jazz bands and playing gigs. I am also slowly learning to surf and striving to improve my Spanish skills as much as possible.

Soy una artista textil y estudiante de Londres. Mi formación está en moda, pero he estado viviendo en Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. He estado colaborando con diversas cooperativas de tejido en toda Guatemala y tengo la intención de continuar este trabajo en Oaxaca o en la región de Guadalajara.

Soy una persona práctica y de acción, me encanta ensuciarme las manos construyendo y trabajando en el jardín. Mis intereses incluyen programas comunitarios, arte, diseño y expandir activamente mi conocimiento sobre permacultura, conocimientos indígenas e idiomas.

Me apasiona servir desinteresadamente a los demás con respeto y confianza. Tengo una amplia experiencia en el apoyo a personas mayores, especialmente aquellas con Alzheimer, y he trabajado en varios centros de beneficencia asesorando a mujeres vulnerables en diversas comunidades.

Además, soy una niñera dedicada con cinco años de experiencia en el desarrollo de la confianza, independencia y carisma de los niños. Tengo habilidades para brindar apoyo educativo, incluyendo tutoría de inglés.

Al haber crecido en una familia muy musical, tengo un gran interés en las bandas de jazz y en tocar en conciertos. También estoy aprendiendo a surfear lentamente y estoy trabajando para mejorar mis habilidades en español tanto como sea posible.

I possess ample skills in teaching English to non-English speakers, spanning from young children to young adults. My key strengths include adaptability, curriculum knowledge, lesson planning, initiative, and empathy. I strive to ask meaningful, open-ended questions and foster independence in my students. Moreover, I tailor my teaching of new information and concepts to accommodate the individual learning styles of my pupils. Tengo habilidades suficientes para enseñar inglés a personas que no hablan inglés, desde niños pequeños hasta jóvenes adultos. Mis principales habilidades incluyen la adaptabilidad, el conocimiento del currículo, la planificación de clases, la iniciativa y la empatía. Mi objetivo es formular buenas preguntas abiertas y fomentar la independencia. Mi enseñanza de nueva información y conceptos se adapta a cómo aprenden alumnos específicos.

If you have any handy work/DIY projects that you need assistance with I am always down to help. As an arts student I'm very good with my hands, painting and have dealt with machinery and woodwork before.
