Hi, I'm Liv. I'm new to Workaway (and kind-of new to travelling in general), but I'm very happy to be here. I love nature and the outdoors, and find myself most at peace when I'm somewhere I can swim, up in the mountains or just somewhere watching the sky :)
I love sharing these moments with my loved ones, although I also value my own time and often seek out solo experiences. I've always been a deep thinker and enjoy finding presence in the quiet and simple things... although this is something I'm working on! I'm also learning to build my connection with community, an area of life I'd like to explore more.
I love art, poetry, music... any form of creative expression. I see animals as my friends (including the little guys) and live a plant-based life, trying to cultivate kindness as much as I can. I practice yoga, meditation and journal quite regularly, and view spirituality as an important dimension of my life.
I am quite engaged with politics are care deeply about humanitarian issues. I've spent the last 5 months becoming increasingly involved in activism (largely human rights & climate change), which is something I intend to develop.
I've grown up in Meanjin (Brisbane), surrounded by beautiful family and friends. I've begun a social work degree and job as a disability support worker, all of which I love very much. However, I've decided to take a bit of a pause this year, giving myself time to explore other parts of life and feel out where I'd like to direct my energy. I'd like to keep cultivating presence and connection within my life, which I hope to do through a combination of travelling, quiet-time, reflection, exploring and community-building.
That's me for now! I look forward to hearing about you :)Interests

As mentioned, I enjoy spending time outdoors. I've tried my hand at a bit of gardening and plant-keeping, I can mow a lawn pretty confidently and do some general weeding/up-keep. I have some environmental knowledge but would love to learn more about local habitat, wildlife, permaculture systems and off-grid living.
I'm good with cleaning and can complete general household tasks well. I enjoy cooking and can do so confidently, as long as it's plant-based. I've done some wall-painting in various houses I've lived, I've always been an artistic person and have skills I can apply in various creative settings (visual arts, crafts, photography, writing, etc).
Having started my degree in social work I have a decent knowledge-base around social/political/cultural systems, and as an emerging activist I am continually educating myself about global issues and humanitarian causes.
I have a year of experience within the disability support work field, and am currently completing my online Cert III. Consequently I have knowledge around disability contexts, I work well alongside others, and find meaning in offering support, encouragement, advice or just a listening ear.
I consider myself to be good with organisation, value open communication, am patient and have an open mind. I take pride in whatever work I do and like to complete tasks to a good standard. Most of all I love learning, and am happy to take on whatever tasks or skills are on offer :)Age

What else ...
My travels to-date are mostly based in Australia, although I was lucky enough to go to Laos and Vietnam for 3 weeks last November with my Mum! I also went to Nepal and Indonesia for 5 weeks with my family when I was a younger kid. I'd love to travel overseas more soon, but for now am keen to check out more of Aus!
