Description
Hi there,
Thank you for reading our information! We are Bas and Emma, we are traveling with our puppy Bella who will be 4 months in september and has been with us for a month. We are from the Netherlands and live on a former recreation park in a rebuilt house close to nature and the city of Utrecht. Wat we enjoy most is be with friends, bike, hike, taking care of plants and animals, play games, construction, read books, and learning new skills.
Bas (42) did art school and is now a builder and has built several houses. I (Emma, 37) used to work in healthcare and got my biodynamic farming degree 2 years ago. Since then, I have worked as a farmer on two professional gardens. We grew mostly vegetables, flowers and some herbs. One garden is a CSA (community supported agriculture) garden where a community of committed locals harvest from the farm on a weekly basis. On the other, we brought all the crops to the nearby foodbank. Bas has a great interest in self-sustainable living and building, and I am very passionate about all creatures great and small, well we both are :) We hope to find a plot of land in the Netherlands to create our own CSA community. But before starting this project, we wanted to go out and explore!
We left the Netherlands in February and have used WWOOF to work on 15 addresses in France and Spain since. We love to learn new things by doing, and to live together and exchange experience with others. We like to get inspired and participate in a lot of things, here are some: community living, ecological building, different visions on how to create and maintain cooperatives, all that has to do with ecological farming and transformation of products (including baking bread, making cheese, olive oil) and how to reclaim seeds from the industry!
So far, we have had a far greater experience than we ever imagined! All the people and communities we met have been an inspiration in their own way. Now we would like to expand our horizon a bit and try Workaway. We hope to meet you soon :)

We meant to do this much earlier (the fast life got in the way ;), but maybe it's not so bad because now the memories have settled. We want to thank your for your enthusiasm in receiving us into your life, and the selbstverstandlichheit (I cant find the english word for this) and warmth with which you do this. It was nice to be a… read more
What a fantastic couple they are! Such positive people with a smile throughout the day.
Sad that they have come for only two weeks. And even sadder that we had such bad weather. Most of the time we had heavy… read more
