Hi! I'm Katie and I'm a kayak guide from Santa Barbara, California. I've worked as a guide for 5 years now, including stints as a backpacking guide, ocean kayak guide, outdoor educator, and trip coordinator. These days when I'm not traveling, I spend most of my time working with children in the outdoors and helping them learn about marine ecology and most of all, teaching them how to nurture their relationship with nature.

A few years ago I spent a summer on a farm in Hawaii, mostly spending my time gardening, feeding the animals (the ducks and goats were my favorite), and learning everything I could about the local culture/history/and agriculture. Most recently I spent 4 months traveling in Southeast Asia, and now am headed to Central/South America for some months. I'm excited to have some new experiences, gain some understanding of a region of the world I've never been, and connect with people! I studied history and anthropology in college and love to learn about the histories and cultures of the places I visit.

I am a certified as a Wilderness First Responder, and I hold current CPR and First Aid Certifications. I don't shy away from hard work, especially when it's something I'm passionate about like working outside or with children.
