Description

My name is Johanna and back home I work as a nurse in the homecare in the Netherlands. I quit my job to go on my first solo travel to see some more of the world, meet new people and cultures, stepping out of my comfort zone, and going on adventures. I want to live in a different culture, change or adjust my perspectives, get inspired by other people, implementing new things in my life which are good for the world and for me.

I like to get to know different cultures, meet new people, learning new skills, get to know myself a little bit better, find out where my talents lie, be part of something bigger (like a community f.i.) and contribute to wonderful projects in this part of the world. I want find out how and where I can be of best service, and that preferably also suits me.

I love animals, being in nature brings me great happiness, I love beaches, mountains, forests. Lately I'm into birdwatching. I love to go on hikes and long walks, exploring, learning and trying out new things. I love to eat (new dishes from different countries). I like working out such as running, walking, doing yoga and (back home) speed cycling. I love listening to music and reading books. I like having meaningful conversations

I am a registered nurse (university of applied science). I got my first aid certificate.
I'm fluent in English, Dutch, Frisian (a language within the Netherlands). I'd love the learn Spanish.
I'm a fast learner, I pick up on things quickly, I work neatly; I'm a very neat and clean person, I'm organized, I'm friendly, I take initiative when I know my way around the (work)place, I'm a calm person; I also tend to stay calm in stressful situations, I'm an open minded person, I'm flexible. I don't shy away from hard work. I like gardening, I know how to cook (a little), I like cooking together!

What else ...

- I'm interested in (zen) meditation and vipassana. I really want to go on a vipassana retreat while in Mexico.
- I like playing board games, such as rummikub, UNO, Qwixx, jenga.
- I love going on camping / hiking trips, and winter sports.
- I'm not much of a party-animal and I don't like to drink alcohol anymore, but I like going to parties now and then. I like to dance tho!
- I like to try new things, such as diving, climbing, MTB or something else!
- I see myself as an introverted person, but I open up once I get to know you.
- I've had 2 'overseas' travels: to Bolivia in 2014 for four weeks (help to build a primary school) and to Malawi in 2019 for ten weeks (internship at a hospital). I also lived in Germany for 5 months in 2020-2021 also for an internship at a hospital.
- Something shocking for most people: I'm the youngest of 7 children at home..

I'm really exited about where this workaway journey will take me!
