Hi! :) I'm Júlia, a 25-year-old who needs a change in the direction my life was taking. I got a degree in Industrial Design Engineering and started working in that field a few years ago, but I've realized that's not the path I want to follow. I'm feeling quite lost, so I want to explore other ways of life around the world related to the things I've always loved: nature, animals, and being creative in any way I can.

I don't know where this adventure will take me, but I'm sure it will be a very enriching and inspiring experience that will allow me to disconnect from the system I've always followed and connect with my true self. I am a very motivated and enthusiastic person who loves to learn anything; I also love languages, and any cultural exchange in that regard would be great. I speak Spanish, Catalan (my mother tongue), and English quite fluently, but I can say a few things in German and French and would love to improve these languages.

I consider myself a very creative person who loves to help and inspire others. In addition to my creative perspective, I have a technical background, which has given me a very structured and clear mind when it comes to organizing things.

I have always loved nature and, whenever I can, I practice outdoor sports. I love hiking with friends, with my dog (I love animals) or alone; I also consider myself a very independent person. As for art, I play the flute, guitar, and a little piano and ukulele and I love drawing or making DIY crafts. I would love to share my music wherever I go! I have some knowledge in gardening and farm living.

From a social point of view, I consider myself a very empathetic person, sometimes funny and very serious when necessary. I like to help those around me and make sure everyone around me is having a good time.

It’s hard to find the right words to describe the month I spent at Stadler Hof. This was my first Workaway experience, and from the very first day I felt that I would step out of my comfort zone. If you are open to it, this is a great place to learn a looooot about animals, plants and life in general. You have to be willing to give real help. This … read more is not just a pass-by volunteering experience—you truly become part of the place.
Some days you may feel exhausted, although all the tiredness goes away when you realize how rewarding it is to lend a hand in a place where the animals are so well taken care of, and where the trees and garden grow healthily thanks to all the effort that Nala and the workawayers put into it. And if you are too tired you can always take power naps in between😂 Nala cooks amazing lunches and those plus the power nap are the best combination to get energy for keep going for many more hours.
Nala always tried to make me feel at home. I learned a lot from her—not only the knowledge she shared about animals and plants, but also from her life stories and the advice she gave me. Sometimes I got stuck in my own thoughts and wasn’t able to share what was bothering me, so please don’t repeat my mistake—have the courage to open up. She is a very understanding person. You can also read all the books she lends, which depending on your taste might be really good books.
Hans is also a nice character on the farm, hehe. He always tried to teach me some words in German so I could learn, although it was a bit hard for me to understand the Bavarian accent. He and Nala always took me to the station if I needed to take a train, that's very helpful.
To summarize my experience, I would say it was very enriching, even though I left one day earlier than planned. I would say I’m not good at goodbyes, and I overthought an exceptional situation there, which led me to leave in a somewhat rude way. So don’t take that into account if you (future workawayer) are thinking about going—JUST GO FO! It’s a great place. You may even make a new best friend, for example with one of the cats (like Susie ♥️).

Thank you, Nala, for your patience and understanding, even when I wasn’t able to understand myself. I still have a long way to go in this experience, but I'm so grateful to have started here. Best wishes Nala and family.🫂
