Our next destination:
New Zealand - from Jun 2025 until Mar 2026 View allDescription
Hi :)
We are Jane and Aidan, a couple from Canada! We have been traveling together for about a year now, and have lived together previously in Western Canada. We met tree planting in British Columbia and have spent three summers living in a tent and roughing it in the bush together! We have spent the last nine months on the road in Australia, and have just made our way to New Zealand. We both have a passion for the outdoors and are always finding ways to have a good laugh.
We have done Workaways in Australia together and Jane has had some experiences in New Zealand as well - They have been some of the most memorable times during out travels. We love the community aspect of volunteering and always enjoy meeting people with the same mindset.
We will be traveling New Zealand (mainly South Island) until autumn 2026. Feel free to reach out if you are keen!Interests

More details about your skills
Both of us have spent three years tree planting/doing forestry work in various areas across Canada and Australia. We've developed strong work ethics and a tolerance for all outdoor conditions. We also spent 3 months working on an Australian beef and avocado farm together, where we fed cattle, grafted avocado seedlings, weaned calves, picked avocados, amongst many other things. We have both spent copious amounts of time working with our hands outside, and are always looking for something new to learn.
Aidan has spent time learning basic carpentry, grapevine maintenance, landscaping, and has restaurant kitchen experience. He has a Bachelors degree in Chemistry with a specific interest in orthomolecular medicine (nutrition as preventative medicine). He has played both the piano and violin for most of his childhood, and has taken up guitar more recently. Aidan is a very hard worker, loves problem solving, and does any task to his best ability.
Jane has experience landscaping, farming cattle in NZ, working at a garden centre, and lifeguarding. She has a Bachelors degree in Agriculture and loves learning about gardening, forestry, permaculture, medicinals, and anything plant/animal-related. She's a fast learner, keen to work with her hands. Jane has lots of experience with physical labour and working solo or with others. She is a very creative person and is always up for a challenge.Age

What else ...
Jane loves anything creative: photography, cooking, painting, drawing, leather work, beading, building, etc. She has a passion for working hands on with animals and plants, and learning how to raise/grow them in an ecologically regenerative way. Jane also grew up a swimmer and enjoys anything to do with the water.
Aidan is an avid mountain biker and cross country skier. He has extensive knowledge about food chemistry and nutrition, which he is always keen to share. He’s always up for a building project or mechanical problem to solve. A childhood spent in the rocky mountains guarantees that Aidan is always craving an adventure.
Together, we love to backpack, hike, camp, garden, and work on building projects. We appreciate any outdoor activity and a chance to learn a new skill. We've found that Workaway/other community projects are the best way to do so - we are always surprised at the skills we are able to take away from those experiences. Most of all, we love our adoptive families from all over the world :)Some more information
