  • Description

Kia ora and hello! We are James and Claudia, both in our late twenties on a working holiday visa for France for a year. We are passionate about growing our own food, eating well, being connected to nature, and fostering connections with others. We have worked on a few landscaping and building projects around our home in New Zealand, including some van renovations, wood shed building and a LOT of gardening. We both enjoy movement, and the satisfaction of feeling tired after a productive day... hopefully with a nice glass of wine at the end! We love animals, get along well with others and are empathetic and respectful. We would love to feel immersed in your home and project, to create lasting memories and foster connections.

  • More details about your skills

Hi, I’m Claudia! I'm more the soft skills, where James has the hard skills, haha :D

Expertise: As a professional counsellor in New Zealand (Master’s in Counselling), I have strong listening and communication skills, making me a thoughtful and supportive team member.

Experience: I have hands-on experience in landscaping, vineyard work, and previous Workaway roles, including working at a dog boarding kennel and assisting with campsite cleaning and administration. I’m a keen gardener and also have lots of experience with kids (babysitting etc.).

Abilities: I’m enthusiastic, friendly, and easygoing, and I enjoy working as part of a team. I’m eager to learn new skills, including languages (I have a very basic level of French), and I’d love to help teach you English while learning from you in return.

    ----

Hi, I’m James! I’m a practical, hardworking, and easygoing person who enjoys getting stuck into hands-on projects and working as part of a team.

Expertise: I have a Master’s degree in Engineering Geology and eight years of experience in the field, which has given me a sharp eye for working with the land and strong problem-solving skills.

Experience: I’ve worked in multiple vineyards, from day-to-day operations to winemaking. I have also spent a few seasons working in pest control to protect the amazing NZ wildlife. Growing up in Aotearoa New Zealand, I gained plenty of experience in landscaping, gardening, and minor building work, so I’m comfortable with outdoor tasks and physical work.

Abilities: I pick things up quickly and take a practical, can-do approach to work. I’ve also led teams in the past and enjoy getting people working together efficiently. While I’m happy to take the lead, I’m also laid back and easy to get along with.

We’d love to lend a hand with your project, learn new skills, and share good company along the way!
