Washington, United States - from Feb 2024 until Jun 2024 View allDescription
Hello fellow travelers and hostees! It is a pleasure to share this online space with you all! I'm Jake and here's a bit about me...
I'm from Fairfield, CT, and just finished school, studying film and media at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. I've worked with a few nonprofits including the Cuala Foundation (facilitating community and social change in Dublin, Ireland) and Children's National Hospital. This summer I got the chance to work at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in the Hudson Valley, NY, and live with an amazing community of people working in service with the mission of facilitating space for people to embark on their spiritual journies. This has opened my eyes to a lifestyle of working not to make money, but to serve the community and the land.
I also love working with kids. I was a camp counselor for 7 years, coached soccer, and currently direct an online storytelling group for kids all across the country.
I like to describe myself as a "Renaissance person."
Some stuff I do: Filmmaking, video editing, screenwriting, live audio mixing, drawing, painting, pianoing, guitaring, drumming, dancing, ballet, running, hiking, yoga, meditation, tai chi, rock climbing, soccer, ultimate frisbee basketball, tennis, volleyball, pickleball, spike ball, ping pong, disc golf, longboarding, balancing large sticks, communicating with animals telepathically (or at least trying)
Some stuff I want to do: Farming and gardening, surfing, mountain biking, DJing, electronic music production, sailing, underwater videography, backpacking, and pretty much anything under the sun
I am extremely grateful for the time I've had on this earth. This universe is an absolute trip and I want to explore as much of it as possible. I got a taste of travelling while studying in Ireland last year and I can't wait to travel some more. I love meeting people of all different backgrounds and cultures, so when I heard about Workaway I had to sign up immediately. I'm new to this community, but hoping to spread the love, have some great times, and meet some great people.Interests
