Description
Hello!
My name is Jake. I am a recent college graduate from Maryland, USA - about one hour south of Washington D.C.. My degree came in Economics, but my true passions lie in travel. Developing interpersonal connections, exchanging cultures, and embracing life for all of its new and exciting experiences/challenges that come my way truly motivates me to see as much of the world as possible.
I love being outdoors and living a physically active lifestyle. Playing sports, going for walks and hikes, and most recently skiing have been some of my favorite ways to enjoy nature.Interests

English: FluentMore details about my language interests
I have taken five total years of Spanish throughout grade school (a semester of French in college too!). I believe I have a decent vocabulary from this but have never been able to take the next step to feeling comfortable conversationally with the language. My father's side of my family is from Central America - it is a dream of mine to one day be able to speak to all of my relatives as a fluent Spanish speaker.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

I have multiple years of customer service and hospitality experience in a number of different environments. These include restaurants, gyms, as well as hotels and hostels. Additionally, coming out of college I gained 10 months of corporate experience working in a finance-related field.
These positions have helped me to develop strong interpersonal and communicatory skills:
* Working in restaurants has taught me to be a reliable member of a team - one who is helpful to others and receptive to new ideas.
* Working in a gym gave me experience being a friendly and attentive host of a public facility.
* Hotel experience, again, taught me to be a reliable teammate as well as gave me plenty of experience speaking directly to patrons.
* Working in a hostel gave me valuable experience in a number of ways. I was able to further develop my customer service skills via phone, Internet, and in-person contact. Housekeeping was a daily task where I managed guest laundry as well as maintained neat and sanitary common areas and dorms. Additionally, living and working in a hostel taught me important lessons about healthy communal living practices.Age
