  • Description

Hi! I’m a 20-year-old from the UK with a big love for the outdoors and a growing curiosity for the world beyond my bubble. After feeling like I’ve been living under a rock for far too long, I’m finally ready to explore a little and experience new cultures, ways of life and make meaningful connections—especially those that can’t be found in tourist hotspots. This will be my first experience using workaway and I am both nervous and excited as I'm not sure what expect but I am so ready to see more than the world I know.
Professionally alongside my education I have maintained full times and parttime jobs, I first started as a bakers apprentice which I worked for three years before finally moving on to to the restaurant industry where I have maintained working for the same employer for several years and have worked both In kitchens and front of house, currently I'm the restaurant supervisor and maintain staff rotas, orders and invoices and staff training. This has helped me learn the value of both being a team player but also how to take control of situation and help guide a team through an issue. I love cooking can do so for large quantity's if necessary and feel extremely at home within a kitchen, however it has never been a true passion of mine and I would prefer abstain from cooking but I am happy and willing to do so if the need arises.
I was born in Copenhagen Denmark but was raised in Manchester England for the majority of my life. I'm passionate about hiking, camping, rock climbing, and agriculture. I enjoy working with my hands and love the creative arts—pottery, jewellery-making, painting, and anything that lets me express myself in a creative manor. I’m also deeply inspired by architecture and hope to become an architect one day so I can create buildings and monuments that outlast me and leave my mark on society. At home I'm a proud dog dad to a rough collie called Watson and have been raised around animals for most of my life, I have a deep love for animals and nature and would love an opportunity to work with them at some point.
For my education, I studied mechanical engineering for two years and have a level 3 diploma. During my studies I spent a fair amount of time within metal workshops and have grown accustomed to forms of power tools and heavy machinery such as lathes, bandsaws, pillar drills, spot welders and manual milling machines. Along side that I also have experience with with finer instruments such as dial indicators, micrometres and feelers gauges. Studying engineering has had a massive impact on my ability to think outside the box and work within my means to succeed at challenges presented to me.
During a couple summers I've worked part time in construction doing plastering, joinery and landscaping where I had to level a garden and dig and pour foundations for a new wall. I have basic handy man skills and can fix minor burst pipes and unblock sinks if the need arises.
Overall I’m energetic, curious, and deeply motivated to contribute wherever I can. Whether it’s helping on a farm, in a café, on a build, or with creative projects—I’m ready and rearing to go.
If you’re looking for a reliable, creative, and open-minded person happy to help, I’d love to hear from you!
    Izzi sasson.

More details about my language interests
Although I currently only speak English, I’ve developed a strong desire to learn other languages — not just for practical reasons, but for deeply personal ones. My father speaks four languages, and most of my family on his side are at least bilingual. Unfortunately, he never passed any of that on to me or my siblings, and it’s something I’ve really struggled with, especially when trying to connect with my relatives. One of the most painful parts has been watching my grandfather slowly lose his ability to speak English and return fully to his native language. I now find myself unable to truly communicate with him, and in many ways, I feel like I’ve lost him too soon — not physically, but emotionally. That experience has had a huge impact on me and has made me realise how powerful language is in preserving relationships, culture, and identity. Now, more than ever, I want to learn languages to bridge those gaps — not just within my family, but with the people I meet around the world. Language is such a powerful tool for connection, empathy, and understanding. I don’t want to just visit new places — I want to engage with them. I want to be able to speak with locals, understand different ways of thinking, and connect on a deeper, more human level. I may be starting late, but I’m motivated and open-minded, and I see every conversation as a learning opportunity. Whether it’s picking up phrases from those around me or committing to study more seriously, I’m ready to grow this part of myself.

  • What else ...

I enjoy staying active and keeping things fun — I regularly go to the gym and love playing sports like badminton, squash, and trampolining when I get the chance. I’m also into the creative arts and really enjoy going to the theatre and ballet. Upcycling clothes is another hobby of mine; I like the idea of giving old pieces a new purpose in a unique way.

Socially, I love spending time with friends — whether it’s a game night playing D and D or Catan, heading out for bowling or pool, or trying new restaurants. I’m a big fan of live music and really enjoy festivals and raves for the atmosphere and energy. I’ve recently become curious about Warhammer 40k and would love to get into it more.

And just for fun: my favourite drink is Coca-Cola — classic and unbeatable!
