Description
Hi, we’re Kiara and Immanuel, both 25 years old and from Germany. Since February, we’ve been traveling through Southeast Asia and plan to spend a total of eight months exploring the region.
We’re excited to not only travel through Southeast Asia, but also to volunteer along the way. We’d love to connect with local communities and learn more about their culture, traditions and ways of life.
Immanuel: Hey, my name is Immanuel and I just finished my studies in architecture and urban design, which I'm really passionate about. Before we started our journey to Southeast Asia, I worked as a landscape architect / urban designer. I also study sociology and will continue my studies after the trip. This being said most of my experiences with buildings and outdoor facilities were more on the planning side, so I'd love to learn more about the hands-on practice, be it helping to build or renovate something or everything about gardening, plant care and harvesting. I love making, discovering and exchanging music and enjoy learning new languages a lot. Also I really like reading and drawing, but do it less frequent than I want.
Kiara: Hi, my name is Kiara. I completed my studies in childhood pedagogy about half a year ago. During my studies and in the time since, I’ve gained a lot of experience working with children in different settings.
I’ve worked in residential care groups as well as in daycare centers and kindergartens, supporting children between the ages of 0 and 12. I truly enjoy working with children and with people in general. I'm passionate about doing meaningful work—something that benefits others or the environment.
Spending time with friends and family brings me a lot of joy. I also like (vegan) cooking and would be excited to learn more from you and share what I know. Additionally, I really enjoy being in nature and would love to deepen my knowledge about plants and gardening!
We are very open minded and quite easy going persons who enjoy meeting new people and being surrounded by old and new friends just as much as being just for ourselves somewhere out in the nature. Traveling, camping or going to festivals are some of the things we love to do together!

More details about your skills
Immanuel has some (more theoretical) knowledge of construction and has helped with renovations (painting walls, some wood work etc.). He also has basic web design skills (WordPress) and is proficient in photo editing and graphic design (Adobe Suite).
Kiara is very skilled and experienced with children, is a good car driver and great at decorating. She also got her Thai motorbike driver's license a few months ago.
We both have basic knowledge of vegan and vegetarian cooking, have used garden tools more than once, and are comfortable with DIY tasks. Additionally, we’ve worked together on a fig farm, gaining our first experience with farm work.
We’re willing to help anywhere it’s needed. We’re fast learners (at least we think so!), and it’s easy to get us excited about new tasks. We’re always eager to explore areas we haven’t worked in before!
