  • Description

I am a recent sustainable tourism master's graduate who focused on how tourists or 'guests' can positively interact with host communities. These interactions can be financial, cultural, or educational, all with the aim of providing a holistic and community-based relationship between travelers and the communities that they visit.

I am a big believer in cultural exchanges and have always sort to understand local perspectives and traditions when traveling. My favorite experience so far was spending a month in Morocco. The culture, smell, food, and traditions were so different from anything I had experienced before, I remember feeling a great amount of excitement and motivation for every new day.

    Indoors:

    PART-TIME BAR MANAGER
I have worked part-time in a fast-paced bar. My responsibilities included training new staff on the tills, cashing up at the start and end of the shift, stock management, and addressing customer complaints. I learned to understand the importance of leading by example to maintain a productive working environment. I managed bars at events including Silverstone F1, PGA Wentworth, Moto GP Silverstone, and the AirExpo. I also have experience working at exclusive events and functions including weddings and fundraisers.

    EVENTS MANAGER, ENTOURAGE PROJECT
During my time at school, I oversaw conceptualising, effectively marketing, and managing the running of weekly evening events in Reading. I was managing a small team which helped with sales generation and promotion. I had to learn how to incentivise the team, delegate according to individual’s skills, manage social media, and achieve targeted sales expectations.

FOOD AND BEVERIDGE ASSISTANT, THE CAVERSHAM GOLF CLUB
During the completion of my postgraduate degree, I began part-time work for a golf club. The role is now on a full-time basis. Beyond the typical responsibilities of bartending and waiting, the role involves the setting up and running of large functions. As the team is small duty-manager responsibilities are often completed. I have particularly enjoyed building friendly and informal ‘friendships’ with the members.
