  • Description

    Hello potential Hosts!

My name is Hunter Stephens and I'm a 25 year old scientist from the US looking to explore the world and give back to the communities I stay in! I've been traveling with my available time off my job for the past 2 years, however working with hosts has recently appealed to me as a slower, more immersive opportunity to fully absorb the areas and cultures I'll be working in.

To give a little more info about me, I strive to be a positive, light hearted influence no matter where I go, while still being able to maintain a serious demeanor when its time to work! I keep an open mind with practically all experiences and welcome new challenges; I'm at my happiest whenever I'm working on a difficult problem, and I'm always looking to expand my repertoire of skills, both practical and academic. I'm also deeply devoted to environmentalism and the protection of our planet, and am very interested in learning skills associated with sustainable living and ecofriendly practices! My happy place is basically anywhere outdoors, I absolutely adore hiking and love to sit and watch the native wildlife while exploring. I've also been scuba diving for about 5 years now and probably feel more comfortable underwater than on land! While I do enjoy my solitary time in nature or reading a book, I also love to socialize with my fellow travelers and locals and work well in groups or social settings of all kinds. Simply put, I love to learn and to experience new cities, people, sights, and food, any way they come and in any form they take!

I eagerly await your reply if I appeal to your project needs, and I can't wait to get to work on whatever challenge you have for me! Don't hesitate to reach out for questions or concerns!

  • More details about your skills

By trade, I am a pharmaceutical scientist with a degree in Biochemistry, so I tend to be mathematically oriented with an analytical mind geared towards critical thinking. I learn quickly and have an attention to detail for making sure a problem is solved correctly. I have practical lab experience, so I am capable of following instructions as is needed in my job for accurate analysis, while also being independent enough to diagnose issues that may arise and formulate solutions on the fly. My team also worked under tight deadlines, so I am also comfortable working in fast paced, high stress environments.

In terms of practical skills, I am comfortable working with most computers and have built my current computer from parts, so I have some comfortability with machine assembly. I've also fixed some small issues around my home in the past (patching holes, mounting TVs) and have helped my father with wood working projects, so I am handy in some respects, but also seek to learn more.

I have customer service experience and have worked to provide customers with an easy shopping experience. I would not be opposed to further developing these skills in a hospitality job, as talking with people and providing assistance is quite satisfying.

I've cared for many animals (cows, goats, horses, chickens, alpacas, pigs) at my grandmother's (now cousin's) farm numerous times and love any and all animals that I'm privileged to take care of.

My experience scuba diving has also given me experience in the planning, preparation, and execution of dives, including equipment checks, dive profile planning, and knowledge of appropriate safety procedures in the event of potentially dangerous conditions.

I also have some experience cooking and love taking on new, complex recipes from various cultures around the world!

  • What else ...

My chosen hobbies include hiking, running, reading all types of nonfiction, cooking, learning more about whatever interest I'm currently reading about, simply sitting and enjoying nature, and of course listening to music (love the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s)!

I have too many interests to keep track of, I love to learn so I don't really set boundaries on what I learn about or the tastes I develop. Name a topic, and I've probably read a tiny bit about it at some point or another.
