Description

Hi hosts! My name is Hannah, I started traveling and doing work exchanges in 2018 after graduating high school, took a break to go to university and work, and am back traveling the world :) I spent most of my time previously in Latin America but got to know more of Asia in 2024-- now I am in Brazil! It fills me with joy travel this way, meeting people from all over the world and learning about different ways of knowing and being. :)

My top Workawayer qualities are that I am a quick learner, dedicated and enthusiastic worker, and above all a courteous and respectful guest. Other than that, I have an Environmental Science degree and am very passionate about contributing to sustainability efforts! I also grew up by the ocean and mountains in the Pacific Northwest so loooove all the outdoor activities like hiking, biking, swimming, surfing, etc. :)

I have many years of work and work exchange experience ranging across hospitality, cleaning, farming, web design, teaching English, painting, outdoor education, environmental outreach, and more. I'm very open to new experiences and super excited to contribute my skills and time towards your project!

- Permaculture farming: assisting with natural building projects, weeding, harvesting, planting, composting, etc.
- Hospitality: reception, housekeeping, laundry, general guest services, and some cooking/waitressing.
- Painting: exteriors mostly! Bigger projects as well as more detailed trim work.
- Outdoor education: I've worked as a whitewater raft guide, surf instructor, and climbing instructor so have lots of experience organizing fun outdoor experiences/lessons for large groups of all ages as well as ensuring group safety!
- Environmental outreach: educating communities on environmental stewardship and designing outreach tools
- Teaching English: I spent about two months teaching English (to high school students in Guatemala) and developed my skills greatly during that time
- Web skills: I've built basic websites using Wordpress as well as managed Hostelworld and Workaway sites for hosts.

What else ...

I'm a very social person but also enjoy my time reading, doing yoga, and listening to music :) you'll see me singing and dancing a lot and maybe even attempting to play the guitar. I also am a big tennis player and sometime climber. I love to be in nature, especially hiking in the mountains, and nothing makes me happier than swimming in a lake or the ocean!
