    Travelling

  • Description

It has been almost 3 decades since we travelled as a family in New Zealand and were able to gain valuable experience with several WWOOF hosts:

    - We were able to be close to the (family) life of the locals,
    - get to know everyday life on site,
    - immerse ourselves in the culture and customs of the country,
    - get to know a wide variety of people,
    - make friends,
    - support them with our work.

Our aim was not just to consume the country as tourists, but also to immerse ourselves in it, get to know each other and benefit from each other.

In the end, it was these encounters that have remained in our memories and have shaped, changed and inspired us. We are very grateful for this more intensive way of travelling.

Now that we have the time and leisure to travel again, we are building a VAN that we would like to use for travelling. But we also want to immerse ourselves again, get to know projects and the people behind these projects, be able to contribute our skills, provide local support and be a real help.

From time to time, we also travel by bicycle, as we are currently doing from Germany to Istanbul.

  • More details about your skills

    Lutz

I am a qualified industrial engineer, have worked in IT for 20 years and have experience with all kinds of IT projects. I can organise projects quite well.

For some time now, I have been working intensively with wood. During the expansion of our VAN, I was able to acquire good skills in this area.

Working around the house and yard (gardening, caretaking) was my constant companion as a family man.

... and I'm really good at repairing bicycles.

    Friederike

I studied architecture, but in recent years I've been more involved with the family and our home.

I run a creative workshop there for children aged 5 to 12, who learn basic craft and artistic skills from me.

I'm quite good at cooking and baking, sewing - pretty much everything it takes to keep a family going.

I love working with my hands and enjoy doing crafts and/or art.

As a volunteer, I look after the elderly in our village together with many great women from our community and maintain a great intergenerational community with them.

    Both

We are a good team and support each other in our skills.
