Description

Having completed my university degree, I was itching to travel and see the world. I had a feeling that if I didn't do it now, I wouldn't ever, so I'm taking a year out of education to experience other countries and authentically get to know as many cultures as I can!
I have just completed a placement teaching English in rural Thailand, which was difficult, but so rewarding. I had to quickly learn how to overcome a language barrier, and to adapt to a completely new lifestyle without the things many of us take for granted in our daily life. I learnt so many new skills, saw some unforgettable sights, and connected with new people, all of which helped me grow and develop as a person.
I am an adventurous and outgoing person who loves a challenge, but enjoy the slow-traveller lifestyle, which is why Workaway is perfect for me - I would really have the chance to get to know a place and a community, whilst doing something fulfilling and exciting.
My degree in English Literature has helped me appreciate the value of story-telling, and my dream is to share and listen to as many stories as possible, witnessing life in many of its different forms.

I have always loved languages, being one of my favourite subjects in school, and I would love to learn another to a level that gives me the opportunity to communicate with new people! Learning languages opens so many doors, and will allow you to connect with a local community. I have spent 6 weeks teaching English to teenagers in Thailand, through which I have gained a TEFL Qualification.

I am super organised and dedicated to projects, particularly creative ones! I love making artistic things (even though I probably am not very good at it) and music is my passion. I have been making music for my whole life; it is what makes me happy!
I am also a writer, and I love to write both creatively and journalistically. Throughout my time in Thailand, I started a travel blog sharing my weekly experiences with friends and family back home, which was an incredibly enjoyable pursuit, as I set up my first website and practised my writing skills my retelling stories and describing experiences. I plan to keep writing wherever I go!
My time as an English teacher in Thailand also gave me invaluable skills, such as improving my communication through a language barrier, and I also gained a registered TEFL Qualification.
In my part-time job in England as a bartender and waitress, I have gained important skills in quick-thinking, customer service, and improved my working memory in a fast-paced and often busy environment.
I love getting my hands dirty, helping people in need, and will throw myself into everything!

I appreciate both lively atmospheres with lots of people and also quieter moments of calm and self-reflection.
I love watching films and am interested in potentially entering the industry one day, so am very curious and inspired by film-making.
I love to cook and bake and am interested in learning about new cuisines!
I also love to play cards and all sorts of board games (although I am terrible at Scrabble!)
