  • Description

Hi! I'm Francisco, from Portugal, new to the platform, and excited to connect and find interesting opportunities for travel and cultural exchange! I have traveled a lot - though only in and near Europe so far - and am excited to go to Japan!

I'm a fast and eager learner, I love a challenge - and always rise to the occasion -, and have an "anything worth doing is worth doing right" mentality. I'm also always up for adventure, and for trying and learning new things.

I studied electrical and computer engineering at university, and have worked as a software developer. I have also worked as a Math and Science tutor, and done a couple of other odd jobs here and there.

Regarding hobbies and interests, I tend to dabble in everything, but some of the major ones are:
    - Music: I love everything related to music, and play several instruments (especially guitar), and have had a brief stint playing professionally too.
    - Nature: I love nature, the mountains, the ocean, learning about herbs and mushrooms, and I love animals!
    - Being physically active; I tend do a lot of different sports seasonally/in phases (bouldering, parkour, surfing, mountain biking, yoga) or regularly (always hiking), and I enjoy physical labour, maybe to make up for all the time I've spent sitting at a computer because of studies and work.
    - Languages, and connecting to people: I love learning languages, and my primary reason for it is best summarized by a quote I've seen attributed to Nelson Mandela: "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart." I also regularly engage in language exchanges, and am comfortable helping others learn.
    - Geek stuff: the occasional video game, and I regularly play D&D as well as chess and sometimes other board games, among other geeky things.
