Hi there! We are Finn and Somer from Cornwall, Southwest England.

We are on the lookout for a Workaway experience in Norway this winter to explore the beautiful landscape, share our skills and make connections with interesting people to gain an authentic experience of Norwegian life.

In 2023 we had an amazing time with Workaway in New Zealand , where we stayed with two lovely host households and enjoyed working on their land. (We stayed on an off-grid homestead as well as a dairy farm, where our duties included clearing large areas overgrown plants and trees, shovelling and moving earth and repairing fences, among other cleaning and gardening jobs. We found it super rewarding to get to know our hosts and help them with daily life in rural New Zealand, so we are hoping to do the same with the help of Workaway in Norway.)

We are both keen skiers and love running and hiking, which is why we want to come to Norway and experience the amazing landscape, outdoor culture (Friluftsliv?!) and winter sports that it is so famous for. We'd love to get into cross country skiing and SkiMo. In our free time we also love going climbing, foraging, fishing , playing instruments - Finn can play guitar and piano, and Somer is *trying* to learn the banjo !! We speak english, but are really keen to learn as much Norwegian as possible during our time here.

During the summer we both work as beach lifeguards, so we love water sports like surfing, swimming and driving boats.Finn also has a qualification in Marine Engineering and is pretty good at practical jobs and fixing things. He studied photography and computer science at college, so is good with technology too! Somer studied Sportswear and Fashion at University, so would love to help with any creative projects involving sewing or knitting. She loves baking and cooking too, and is very happy looking after people with a good meal or homemade cake.

We love to be outside and are not afraid of hard work, and in the future we would like to have our own land/homestead, so are very keen to pick up skills to do with building, land management, farming and animal husbandry. We are also open to new experiences, learning new skills and meeting lots of interesting people!

Somer
- Previous experience as an Au Pair in Australia for 6 months so great with kids!
- Confident cooking and baking , happy to cook family meals
- I have worked in cafes and a coffee roastery, so I'm also very good at making coffee!
- University degree in Sporstwear Design (good at sewing, can repair clothes by hand or machine. Passion for knitting and interest in Norwegian knitting culture!)
- First Responder Emergency Care level 3 award and practical experience
- Full DBS check (Police check)
- Experience driving cars, trucks with trailers and driving quad bikes

Finn
- Level 3 Marine Engineering Diploma with industry experience
- Experience fixing and maintaining Bikes/Cars/Quad bikes
- Practical minded and good and fixing things!
- Level 3 photography Diploma
- Experience in hospitality working in pubs and serving drinks/food
- First Responder Emergency Care level 3 award and with practical experience
- Full DBS check (Police check)
- Experience driving cars, trucks with trailers and driving quad bikes
- Loves chopping wood haha
