Description
Hello! My name is Evan and after a life changing three months of backpacking around Europe, I'm picking up my life on the East coast and heading West.
I'm leaving my job of two years and taking a gap year work to challenge myself, discover new hobbies, meet amazing people and live in as many different places as I can.
I love trying new things and am always ready for a spontaneous adventure. Snowboarding, hiking, ultimate frisbee and photography are a few ofmy hobbies (a fast growing list)
I have a great work ethic and I'm no stranger to working with my hands (see more below). Given the opportunity, I think I could be a great help on most projects, even things I haven't done before.
While most of my travels have been alone, I have met more amazing people in three months than the rest of my life combined. Many of those people have been from Workaway, as it has genuinely showed me the best side of humanity. Opening your home to strangers to form lifelong connections is exactly how it's felt and I can't wait to have the opportunity to see the other side of things and host (hopefully this summer!)Interests

English: FluentMore details about my language interests
I'm always interested in learning. I'm fluent in English, though have never actually tried to teach someone so I can't vouch for my skills as a teacher. When it comes to learning, I'd be open to any language if given the opportunity. I took four years of Spanish in high school and improved a bit more in Spain but not enough to say I can speak it unfortunately. It's a goal of mine this year to get to a level of conversationalist.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn
I'm interested in:
Eco Projects
Charity Work
Babysitting and creative play
Life at a Farmstay
Animal Care
Some knowledge of:

Helping around the house

Able to teach about:
DIY and building projects
More details about your skills
By profession I'm a mechanical engineer, so through my job I've accumulated many fabrication skills and am very comfortable working with my hands.
Additionally, my father was a carpenter and I worked with him through much of my young adult life. I have experience with framing out decks, remodeling bathrooms, residing houses and roofs. I've done tiling jobs, replaced countless windows and also lead the installation of three large stone retaining walls for a Boy Scout Eagle project.
Photography is also a big passion of mine. I would level myself as intermediate, mostly doing portrait work but have shot some engagement photos for weddings. I've also done kids/family photoshoots. I'm always interested in learning about new types of photography and will be bringing some of my camera gear with me on my trip.Age

What else ...
I have a great work ethic and believe myself to be a quick learner. I'm easy going and usually able to find something to like in anyone I meet. I love all animals and get along with kids great. Given the opportunity, I think I could provide some useful skills and am looking to making awesome memories with awesome people!
