My next destination:
New Zealand - from Mar 2025 until Aug 2025 View allDescription
Hello! I am from Seattle, WA, USA and have been living in New Zealand since the beginning of December. I just finished working as an Au Pair in Taranaki for 3.5 months where I really developed more of my child caring, cooking, and house keeping skills. I also routinely helped on the family's sheep and beef farm and can now confidently say I have experience and can help out mustering sheep, moving cows, and dipping/drenching sheep. I love working outdoors and with my hands, so I'm excited to pursue more opportunities on farms and the like.
I am trained as a Bioengineer and worked in the research side of that field in drug development right after graduating from University, but I'm interested in eventually working in agricultural or environmental engineering (hence trying to get my feet wet with some practical ag experiences!). I am a hard worker and fast and attentive learner. I love acquiring new skills and developing existing ones, and I'm passionate about doing a job well and seeing it through to the end. I am at my happiest when I'm in the workshop building and tinkering, but really in any scenario when I get to be creative and problem solve. I've got a broad array of skills in a medley of areas, and I'm hoping to build on those while learning more from the people I meet here. Thank you!Interests

More details about your skills
Workshop - I am comfortable and experienced with basic woodworking tools and skills. I have built two campers from scratch - one in the states and one in NZ. I have a basic understanding of electrical and engineering principles. Additionally, I'm great at researching and making a plan when my existing well of knowledge runs dry!
Farm work - I have experience working with sheep and cows both here in NZ and back in the US in Montana. I'm comfortable moving cows and mustering sheep as well as working with both animals. I can ride a quad runner/motorbike and have experience riding horses (though I'm no expert). Above all, I'm willing and able to learn quickly and on the job!
Gardening - I worked part time doing landscaping work back in the states. I am happy getting dirty in the garden and working with plants.
Childcare - I have extensive experience working with kids of all ages. I have au paired and been a camp counsellor. I was at one point lifeguard/CPR certified, though my credentials have since expired.
Misc. - I am skilled in sewing, painting (both functional and decorative), ceramics, photography, and design. While in New Zealand I have taken ad photos for local shops and created digital advertisements for local companies. I have done several family/personal photoshoots over the past few years and enjoy helping out small businesses when I can!Age
