  • Description

What motivates me the most is community. Feeling like I am a part of something bigger than myself. To know that I am contributing to the well being of others humans, animals, plants and the earth. I spent a lot of my life completely disconnected from myself, thinking every human must be as depressed as I was. I was grieving and part time caring for my dad who had dementia from the age of 10-21 which really sucked the life out of me and left me with very little hope. But after he died and my grief began to settle, I started to start feeling things for the first time, finding connection to myself, to spirit and to the earth. For the last two years I have began to feel part of a community where I live in Brighton, UK. I have started growing food in my garden, cleansing and healing my gut, expanding my mind and it has led me to wanting to join/start an off grid self sustaining community in the future.

I am spending December - February in Australia as my dad spent over 20 years there before he had me. He would talk about it constantly, but sadly couldn't remember many of the details, just knew he wanted to go back and never should have left. I have decided to go and see what its all about over there, whilst visiting some of his old friends who I have never met in hope of connecting with him further. In between my visits I would love to visit some communities through Work Away which resonate with my values in hope to connect and learn new skills to give me a more specific idea of exactly how I would like my future to look, and how to go about it.

I am very sociable and love being with the land. Every week I host casual volleyball matches with my friends to encourage everyone to get active, work as a team, whilst also grounding on the earth (which often includes a group swim in the sea after!). This is honestly what makes me feel most alive in my week. I practice yoga and meditation daily, with weekly breath work. I am very interested in learning different healing modalities, I have just completed my Level 1 Sekhem energy healing training and plan to continue to practitioner level.
I am also interested in Permaculture and will be doing a course on that before coming to Australia. Furthermore I am very into healthy eating. I am a vegan and thoroughly enjoy cooking with fresh wholefoods every day, fermenting foods, making raw chocolate and experimenting with gluten free, sugar free, soya free diets. I also love to sing and play guitar (purely for fun), I write songs, improvise and enjoy kirtan. For about half a year I have been a volunteer space holder at monthly Women Circle Moon Ceremonies, where I help a group through an intense breathwork session, help preparing the space and cacao, and perform a few songs written specifically for each event. I volunteer on a local farm on a monthly basis, helping to harvest / plant vegetables and help to prepare and maintain the land. I have also volunteered a few times at my local animal sanctuaries, and enjoy raising money for them with my baked goods.

I am so looking forward to connecting with communities over Australia and am so grateful in advance that you have taken the time to read my profile, and if you resonate with me then I hope we can connect :)
