    Description

We are a couple with children aged 9 and 7, living in a bay on the outskirts of Dunedin, near Port Chalmers. Life is busy and we'd love some help to keep on top of our garden and meet new people from around the world. We are surrounded by native NZ birds including pukeko, ducks, kereru, piwakawaka and ruru (owls).

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We enjoy meeting people from other cultures as pre-children we travelled extensively including living on a sailboat in Mexico. We would love to share our place in New Zealand with you and we have been long-time locals so know the area well and can put you in touch with other locals and regional experiences. We have a great range of native birds in our area and are close to the Orokunui ecosanctuary. We would also love to learn from you!

    Help

Primarily we are after help in our garden, mowing lawns, weeding, and cultivating organic vegetables. Helping with domestic jobs is also an option, cooking vegan/gluten-free meals for our family, cleaning or entertaining our children (ages 9 and 7, who attend a Steiner/Waldorf school) who love crafts and the outdoors. We love music and have a range of instruments at home so you can help us with music or yoga if that is your thing as well.

Our daughter was born in Mexico and we would love to learn Spanish and specifically learn more about the Mexican culture. We are keen to share our knowledge of New Zealand and the English language.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The accommodation is a separate cabin beside our house containing a queen bed and a set of single bunk beds. There is a lovely bathroom, a fridge, a toaster and a microwave but no full kitchen. It was designed as a bnb but I simply don't have time to do the upkeep while working and looking after the children. You can have your own private space or spend time with us if you prefer. The main meals will be in our house. There is also a lovely outdoor space by the stream perfect for relaxation or yoga.

    What else ...

We live in a bay of Otago harbour about 20 minutes from Dunedin city centre, close to Port Chalmers. A car would be best to get around the sites with the harbour, beaches, Orokonui ecosanctuary and Otago University nearby.
