  • Description

    Hey there! :)
My name is Chiara, I'm 37 and I come from and live in central Italy.
I have an educational background in art (illustration and photography) and linguistic studies, and working experience as English teacher for young children and teens and travel consultant working for an American Tour Operator. Down at the core, I'm most of all a curious someone with a deep love for beauty, especially when it comes in colours, lights and shades.

Travelling to discover beaury has been my main passion since 2014 and I was blessed enough to have multiple chances to explore new places and meet amazing people through working experiences and volunteering via different platforms.

I worked as aupair girl in California (three months in 2012) and Germany (9 months in 2014), taking care of two cute toddlers. I have travelled solo for professional teaching trainings in Poland and Romania, and spent two months in Ireland as workawayer in 2016, working on an organic garden in Whitegate, helping in tidying up and redecorating an old cottage near Mullingar and helping at a B&B in Kinsale.

That's when I irreparably fell in love with Ireland! After starting teaching in high school, I took advantage of every summer break to fly north and spent my holidays workawaying and exploring the West Coast.
Safe to say the one of Ireland has been the longest relationship of my life! :)

In summer 2022 I took a new solo trip to
Ireland and stayed for almost three weeks with a lovely couple of hosts in Inishturk, helping with their B&B, vegetable garden and lambs. They became my second family and I've been back to visit every summer since. In Summer 2023 I volunteered at the Grspevine Hostel in Dingle, where I took care of the premise and guests together with my lovely co-worker. In summer 2024 I stayed with a lovely host family in South Cork, helping around their house and garden.

What I've experienced so far strengthened my curiousity and sharpened my ability to observe and listen, and I've learnt to appreciate softer qualities which are the essence of human resistance to today's hectic life, such care, patience, flexibility and empathy. I'm a very correct and respectful person, and I'd eager to make meaningful and enriching connections through travelling and workawaying.

Therefore, apart from working, helping and learning new skills, I'd love to meet people I can connect at a deeper level with, and learn about their lives and their cultural backgrounds.

As extra unuseful (?) info, I'm into music and dances, literature, figurative arts and architecture, and I love reading about folk tales and mythology :)

  • What else ...

This year I'm going back to my host family in Co. Mayo from the end of June to Mid-September, and I'm then planning to settle down in West Clare or North Kerry.

I'm looking for hosts who may need help from mid September onwards, ideally in hospitality (as I'd like to learn as much as possible about tourism in the area in order to look for a job next spring).

I'd be happy to also help around the house or garden, or in any way that could help connect me with Irish speakers and people who are into traditional Irish culture and music (and hopefully teach me something about it! :)

I'd like to learn new skills in gardening, farming, building, carpentry too, so if you need someone to help and you are ok with teaching me I'll be more than glad to commit!

I've been into couchsurfing for a bit, so if you need references I can link you my profile. You can also learn a bit more about me and my travels via instagram.
