Hello! My name is Jake, 25, and I'm from Melbourne, Australia. I hope my page will help you learn a little bit about me :) I’m here seeking an authentic travel experience, to connect with others, and practice language. I would love to experience different cultures and local lifestyles while meeting some great people at the same time. I have a good work ethic and can usually pick up new skills quickly, I like to think of myself as a practical and hands on person. I’m easy going and sociable, and I enjoy sharing experiences with other travellers, but I also enjoy time alone.
My volunteer experience includes a placement in Uganda with a British charity, English teaching in Laos (through Workaway!), and lots of different things at home in Australia where I work as a Youth Worker and also do seasonal work at the snow.
Recently I've been getting more into climbing and bikepacking. Also, I'm always keen to go hiking. Looking forward to meeting you! And also, no question is too big!Interests

More details about your skills
- Good command of the English language (native). I am not a qualified teacher however I am confident in my ability to practice and teach English with anyone who already has an intermediate understanding of the language, and I've been getting better at explaining concepts that native speakers seldom need to think about. My accent is a mix between Australian (Melbourne) and English, soft and easy to understand (or so I'm told).
- Lots of hands on experience. I’ve worked in many jobs with people from all walks of life. Lots of volunteer work.
- Quick study. I pick up new skills quickly.
- Youth Work. I am a qualified Youth Worker in Australia. As I'm learning German, in addition to Workaway I'm currently exploring the idea of becoming an 'au pair' or similar.
- Computer and I.T literacy.
- Sports. Football is my favourite sport that I grew up playing, the beautiful game we can all connect though. I'm always looking for the chance to have a kick-around or improve my coaching skills.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification.
- Experience participating in non for profit and charity work, teaching, delivering education and collaboratively meeting project goals.
- Ability to do physically demanding work.
- Car licence (manual transmission) and motorcycle. International Driving Permit for non-English speaking countries.Age
