Hello!
I'm a 29 year old woman. I'm from Brazil and I intend to dedicate at least 1 year to getting to know new cultures, new people, actively participating in the routine, getting to know the local history and experiencing new things. I intend to I plan to travel in the end of July. It is the first time that use the plataform , I really liked the way we can connect wich other through this wonderfull world. This year travelling seems to be the better choice to improve myself and help other people. I would like to discover my place in the world and make a difference in this journey of ours. I am a professional designer. Graduated in 2017 at Design, I have been in interior design area since that. I'm a digital nomad and would like to work as a freelancer sometimes. Which means I have super flexible hours and I can also work from anywhere in the world! I hope to be able to reconcile the two things I love most in this new journey: being a designer and sharing experiences around the world.

I can offer my skills as decorator, DIY projects, interior design, social media and photography related to my area of graduation. I also love to cook a delicious brazilian food and I can clean what needed. I love animals, especially dogs, I have a big one in my home and I love it! I have a great garden in my house too so I think that I can help with taking care of the plants. I'll be happy to help and learn new things and have a lot experiences to share !

The experience of doing volunteer work has been incredible. In my first volunteer work in Portugal I harvested almonds, cooked, cleaned, drove cars and helped with painting in the renovation of the house. Was very important to me to experience a close contact with the nature, give value the little things and small gestures. Feeling at home in another country is really a unique feeling of belonging . In the second in Spain I learned a lot about recycling and composting, permaculture, I helped in the garden and in the vegetable garden. Was very clear to me the awareness that we must be responsible for the environment and knowing that we can do our small part to contribute to a better world gives a feeling of unity with the universe. Every culture is different and it is this difference that makes the experience so enriching.

Observations: I don't have many demands to make of course, because the exchange is based on cooperativeness. But now for the winter it is necessary to have to change some demands. That's why I would like to have a heated room at least to sleep well and avoid getting sick, I'm not used to this cold and this challenge for my first winter is compromising my work. A shower with enough hot water for a 10-15 minute shower and good daily meals (I don't mind eating vegetarian/vegan food). The cultural exchange for me is the most important thing! but having the basics for a good stay is essential. Don't offer anything you can't enjoy yourself ;)

I just want to thank Freek and Holly for this first opportunity to volunteer. It really was a very intense month with many memories and learnings that will stay for life. I unfortunately didn't get to meet Holly in person, but Freek and I had a good time together. Freek is the kindest, most determined and funniest guy I've ever met. He gave me the… read more support of a true friend all this month we spent together, he had all the patience in the world to teach me the most basic things and help me improve. I had my work recognized all the time and being able to experience different activities was just amazing. The hours were flexible and I managed work time. When necessary, I didn't mind staying a few more hours because it was always an exchange. The place is now under renovation and it was good to have been able to help in the midst of so much transformation. I slept in a van and was able to have my own space, it was a unique experience. The baths under the tree were exceptional on hot days, with a soul-washing view of the sea, only on the cold days the bath was a little challenging. Everything is thought of in nature and learning more about composting was great! I helped with the almond harvest, cooked many typical Brazilian foods and made vegetarian dishes with the vegetables we harvested from the garden. We ate very well with lots of salad, grilled vegetables and fruits. I was able to help with painting the house, cleaning, receiving guests, shopping and driving when needed. All with lots of music, joy, silly dancing and laughter. Freek left me free to explore the surrounding towns and in the middle of the week and on weekends I would either go alone to a beach or he would accompany me. He always tried to include me in all of his activities, taking me on family outings, to yoga classes, meeting friends and speaking English even when there was a lot of Dutch people around. Our communication was very good and easy and we were able to share a lot about the differences in our cultures and find many commonalities. Every day was a little adventure and the first month flew by. My heart is broken and I already miss this little paradise under construction. I just have to thanks for all this wonderful experience and being able to be present in this time of transition. Thank you for everything "'boss''! You can expect to have more brigadeiros and pães de queijo soon! All lucky for you and keep following your dreams!
