Hi! My name is Tasia :-)

I was born in Siberia, and emigrated to America with my mom when I was 4 years old.

I grew up in Texas, discovering self-expression, art, dance, and film. From a very young age I had a camera in my hands, recording video. Today, I'm on my way to establishing myself as a music video director.

I have worked in the film industry in Texas since 2019. I've hustled and bustled as a Production Assistant, a Production Coordinator, and occasionally an Art Director or Set Dresser. I truly love this medium, and am committed to making a difference in the world through my work.

That's the side I show everyone. However, there's also some things not everyone knows about me! I have 2 sisters, ten years younger than me, that I helped raise with my mom! I've had my experience in keeping a house clean and mouths fed. I love taking care of my sisters, more than anything. And playing mom, babysitter, house manager, has always come easily to me.

Another thing is: I love nature. I love the silence of an early morning. I have had my fair share of camping, traveling, farming*, and working on vineyards. Being in nature, running around barefoot, coming closer to myself.

What else? I'm interested in making as big of a difference as possible while I am here. I'm committed to creating value. As George Bernard Shaw said...

*One of my favorite workaway experiences: In the summer of 2018, I had plans to volunteer in Tuscany which unfortunately fell through. A few days later after hurriedly looking for last minute workaway opportunities, I met a kid on a motorcycle from Mexico who was traveling the world. Next thing you know, I'm in the passenger seat and we're driving through Croatia and Bosnia, finally arriving in Greece. There, Yurgos and Katerina were accepting last minute workawayers on their organic self sustainable farm on an island called Euboea. I stayed with this community for close to a month, occasionally manning the farm alone with another volunteer. I milked goats, fed pigs, handled chickens, and harvested vegetables every single day. It was the happiest time of my life and ever since then I see clearly a tie between happiness and meditative manual labor and discipline.

After getting off the bus and arriving at the farm, I was greeted by two overwhelmingly loving pups, Pirates and Magas. They led me to their owners, Yurgos and Katerina, and a couple of other volunteers under the fig tree.

That woman makes magic happen in the kitchen out of nothing. And she's a story teller too, so in the candle light she shared the history of Evia.

The next morning it was time to get to work, which doesn't always feel as good as it looks on pictures or in one's mind. It's hard work, at least when there are so many freaking cucumber plants (YURGOS!!!!) Nonetheless, hard work pays off and nothing good comes easy. For seasons it varies, but there are animals to take care of, vegetables to harvest, and the kiosk to run. And the land is big, so there is a lot of walking. However, the work is reasonable when there are 3-4 volunteers.

A couple of days after my arrival Yurgos and Katerina left the farm to sell produce in Chalkida. Another vounteer and I were left to take care of the farm. I had never worked on a farm before and was extremely stressed that everything would go wrong. Of course, the bigger the breakdown the bigger the breakthrough. By the second week, Sue and I were running the place like it was our own, although still in reliable communication with our hosts.

In the beginning, I had a sense of what I was in for, but no idea what the outcome would be when Yurgos put his hands on his hips and said amongst the hardworking farmers, "do you care for some champagne?" The second he said that I knew I would like him as a boss, but we couldn't possibly be friends. He's someone I looked up to greatly. He shared a lot of selflessness and resilience that I see and love in my mom. He's had this far for 6/7 years now, and every day he gets up and does the damn thing. Whatever needs to get done he gets it done. And I saw this, as an ammateur, and wanted to be like him. That didn't go really well, as I worked myself past my limits, but learned an important lesson. No one else can tell me when to slow down and breathe. Working on this farm will teach you how to listen to your body and limitations, and will give you an opportunity to practice compassion with yourself and others. He became a friend that you seldom come across, one that stands for your growth and not for your comfort.

On day 2 for some reason, these two extraordinary human beings saw something in us that allowed them to leave their farm in our hands. And because of that, we got to walk away from this experience seeing ourselves greater and more powerful than we'd ever known ourselves to be. Looking back, every opportunity to work hard on this farm was a gift. If you're really committed to working on yourself, and want to practice perservering and still loving those around you, working on this farm will do you justice. It will serve you if you set yourself aside to serve it.

I love you Katerina and Yugos, and will keep you in my heart forever.
