Hi everyone! My name is Alena, I'm from Belarus and new to Workaway :) Traveling around the world and volunteering was one of my deepest dreams, and I finally decided to make it happen!
I'm a poetry writer, adventure seeker, nature lover and community enthusiast! My passion lies in literature, especially ancient and lost one, nature, crafts and people, and in-between these worlds I exist and feel connected to everything around. Last years I've been mostly living in the countryside and have been doing some cultural activities there with my friends and fellow thinkers. I gathered a rural library, did some theatre events with kids, made writers' walks and small musical events. I have this very huge belief in countrysides as places where a person can easily connects to anyone and anything - nature, people and his/her own creativity. So one of my dreams is to build and renovate a house to live in, to open a forest school for children and a small experimental printing house around which summer camps and festivals can be organized!
I love volunteering and have been doing it for 8 years now :) Festivals, cultural events, educational and small art projects - I'm open to many forms of activities. I love the tempo and the rhythm of team work, where everyone is involved in one main goal, but each has its own tasks and space to share. Though I'm an absolute team worker, I also value privacy and borders, and can freely and joyfully spend some time alone by myself, as there is always something interesting out there to do or to think of.
I love people and always open for sharing, learning from each other and doing something together. I especially love art collaborations where there is this moment, when you catch an idea and a beautiful dialog begins! I love dancing and music improves, recently started to learn how to play ukulele and writing my own little songs. I love spontaneous trips to some places as well as some routine and slow home living with my loved ones. I have a cat, do some yoga, vegetarian.
I want to see the world and learn many things in this life, like how to sail, how to mix technology and ecology in building construction, how to carve from wood and how to care about horses. Life is so huge and has so many paths to it!Interests

More details about your skills
I like to do anything outdoors, whether it will be gardening, building, painting or simple help with bring-take-move - physical work doesn't frighten me, but rather helps me balance my active mind.
I'm great at some small manual monotonous work that needs attention to detail and patience as well. I can also do some electrician work, I've learnt some of it while was volunteering on the musical festival in the electrician team, so I can power the generator or make a garland out of bulbs.
I love cooking, that's just a creative field to me, so I'll be glad to prepare some meals and just make everyone fed and happy. Food is our common language :)
I love kids and can entertain them with stories and fairy tales, come up with ideas for art and fun, create something together: put a theatre play or make a puppet theatre, DIY decorations and masks, read and dance and sing, and would really love to have an experience of volunteering in a small school.
I graduated as an interpreter and language teacher, specializing in English and Russian. Learned a bit of Spanish and now intensively learning Polish and not so rashly Old Norse (that's a story to tell!). So, teaching languages, speaking and finding some creative ways for language practice can be used as well!Age
