Hi! My name is Milena, I’m an almost 20 year old girl from Poland who loves to travel and learn new things about foreign countries, languages and people. At the moment I’m taking a gap year after dropping out of college (I studied English linguistics) simply because I realised it is about time I started doing what I aspire to ever since I was little. And that is working with animals (well, especially dogs). I have a few months left until I begin my course on veterinary technician and then animal trainer and behaviorist. Later in the future I plan to go back to college to study Animals in Recreation, Education and Therapy to extend my knowledge and chase my dream career!
One thing I can say about me is that I am ambitious and aim to get things done when needed. I derive a lot of pleasure from gaining new experiences, meeting new people, traveling across the world or working with animals. I’m more than open to new challenges.
I can handle dogs of all sizes and have been surrounded with them ever since I was a kid. They’ve always been my greatest passion, I posses quite a knowledge about specific breeds, their purposes, equipment, training, sports, feeding etc. I deeply enjoy walking, training and working with them. I’m highly interested in dog sports, as well as dog training and have been trying these activities myself for years now. I want to educate myself even more in the subject of dogs, get all the experience I possibly can. I’m phisically resilient, working with dogs has made me this way, I enjoy moving a lot, having tasks to do brings me pleasure.
Right now I own a working line Border Collie who has taught me a lot, I've trained her myself - she is 2,5 years old now and almost completely trained in obedience. We mostly practice bikejoring, i’m very passionate about it. Apart from her, I own a rescue dog who is the greatest boy in the world. I worked on him a lot because of his behavioral issues that he can now finally be happy and stress free. Before them I had another rescue senior dog and a terrier I grew up with - my "heart" dog who’s awakened my passion for these creatures.
Another thing about me is that I'm really into creative cooking, I simply love messing around in the kitchen, trying new meals, making them myself and then sharing them with the people around me. I'd be pleased to visit other countries that have a different cuisine so that I can try all the tastes this world has to offer! I also adore photography. I have a camera of my own and have been taking pictures all around the world for 4 years now. I carry it everywhere I go. It's not like I'm a professional, I simply do it because I enjoy it. Nothing beats looking back at old pictures :)
I aspire to work with animals, nature, contributing to a good cause, either a charity or the environment.. To gain new experiences, learn new things and make new friends around this beautiful planet is what I want to do. Workaway has already proven me that it is possible after i stayed on a Spanish animal rescue farm back in September :)
Hii! My name is Tosia, I’m an 18-year old girl longing for adventure after having graduated high school recently this year. I’m about to start college here in Poland where I come from and have lived in my whole life. Workaway seemed like a perfect idea to gain some new experiences and learn about the world and its variety of cultures, so I myself, along with my girlfriend, have decided to give it a try!
If I were to describe myself, I’d definitely use the term open-minded, as meeting new people brings me a lot of joy, not to mention having the opportunity to listen to their life stories, even simply exchanging pleasantries. I aspire to spread positivity, making sure to be compassionate and surround myself with calmness. That is why patience comes so easily for me. I absolutely love putting a smile on other people’s faces and cherish those who appreciate the little things in life, being able to notice the beauty of it.
The aim of my travel is to gain knowledge, develop new skills, acquire experience from all around the world and see the breathtaking views it has to offer. What I’m searching for is connection with nature, preferably animal interaction, as those are the things I’m most passionate about. I for one, own many pets, while some of them quite unusual - a snake, a parrot, a bearded dragon, a crested gecko, a frog, a guinea pig, a dog and some fish – so my household has always been packed with fauna ever since I remember. Despite having always been surrounded by pets, I’d be thrilled to learn even more, as well as eager to familiarize with different, various species. Taking care of the environment is essential for me, so exploring the ways of sustainability would be a dream come true.
Even though I have never participated in Workaway before, I’m really excited to try it for the first time. I’ve traveled a bit before across Europe together with my family, but have always wanted to go on an adventure like so, that’s more independent. I’ve always been interested in volunteer work, I’ve raised money and engaged myself in several charity projects and activities since high school. I’d be delighted to work physically or have childcare assigned as a task, considering I’m great with kids and acquire the necessary experience, as a result of being the eldest sister. I’ve grown into a forbearing, creative and lively person, who is not afraid to get my hands dirty, whether by work in the garden or hammering in some nails.
