Description
Hello! My name is Alfie . I'm from Cork City in the South of Ireland.
I’m currently living in Ireland and working as a Mindfulness Meditation teacher.

My previous Workaway experience includes volunteering on farms where I worked doing various tasks on the land and in a hotel where I helped with maintenance, cleaning and reception duties. I am a native English speaker and I am also fluent in the Irish language, have an intermediate level of Spanish as well as a few words of French!

Over the last several years I have completed studies in Applied Psychology (Bachelors Degree), a TEFL course for teaching English an my master's degree in Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing.

When working I am an energetic person and a quick learner and am open to different kinds of volunteer work including: English teaching, running mindfulness classes, gardening, building, working with animals, etc.

My hobbies include photography, hill-walking, music, cycling and hiking. I also love to cook and can usually be found with a book in hand.

I'm interested in sustainable living, re-wilding, conservation and how mindfulness can help us to reconnect to the natural world.

I spent a very enjoyable three weeks working for Yamel in Lanjaron. The house is located quite high up on the mountain and provides spectacular views and was incredibly peaceful. I spent six weeks working here between August and October 2016. I really enjoyed my time here. The workload was always fair and the staff were incredibly welcoming and fun. I found it a great opportunity to improve my Spanish and experience the local culture.

My time volunteering with Debbie and Ulrich (and Tesla!) was very enjoyable. They were very warm hosts and very welcoming. The work was difficult (mainly due to the heat) but very rewarding to be able to see the land progress. Alfie stayed with us for 10 days , we enjoyed having him , he was very easy to get along with . He is an eager worker and cleared a very badly overgrown area & built a chicken run . He treated us to a lovely meal he cooked the evening before he left . we would welcome him back or hope if he is in the area again he calls by to visit . X

Alfie was with us for three weeks in which time many jobs were done and it helped us catch up. He is a very warm sociable person who needs his own space at times but is probably the cleanest male volunteer we have had. A perfect gentleman and a pleasure to host he will be welcome here anytime.
