Hello! I'm Alex, a 35 year old from Sydney, Australia. I am currently taking a gap year from work to live in Italy and connect with my family heritage. My grandparents were born in Veneto and migrated to Australia where my parents were born. After 10 years working professionally in data analysis, technology consulting, business analysis, and project management, I decided to take time to learn about my family's culture, including learning Italian at a language school in Bologna for 3 months. I love food, I eat and cook everything, I love wine, especially Italian reds and French whites, I love music, I play drums and guitar, and I've been writing music since I was 15, I don't take myself too seriously, and above all, I love new experiences and meeting new people!

My professional skills lie in technology and consulting, this means I'm handy with a computer and I always ensure I communicate clearly and effectively. I love to cook and have learned from the best, my nonna, so I am always happy to help with anything food related. I can work a coffee machine and make delicious cocktails with the right ingredients and equipment. I stay active by going to the gym 5 or 6 times a week (at least when I'm at home...) and I used to play tennis 4 times a week, so I'm not afraid of physical work. I'm Australian, so naturally I don't mind getting my hands dirty, with the added bonus that I'll make fun of myself while doing it! And I'm a fast learner, which is what has been the key to my success in my professional life. Lastly, I am open to absolutely anything - if I know how to do it, great; if I don't, I'll learn!

What else ...
Like everyone, I love to travel, however I travel for food and music. The first thing I do when I arrive in a new city/country is look up regional dishes, restaurants (fancy and local), drinks, wine, coffee, and any other culinary item on offer. I will also travel across the world just to see one of my favourite bands. Since I have been in Europe (from July 2024) I have seen over 20 concerts of my favourite bands (sadly they don't come to Australia often). I also love to snowboard and all of my overseas trips in my early 20s were to countries with snow (Canada, New Zealand, Japan, Switzerland). And my favourite thing to do after dinner is to sit down with a great bottle of wine and chat the night away.
