  • Description

    Hi, my name is Amy!

I like to consider myself an adventurous person who likes to take risks in the pursuit of a fun time. I have loved children my whole life, from playing games with my 3 year old cousin for hours on end during summer to volunteering to coach younger students twice a week at my school, I love it all. I have lived in my hometown my entire life, so during my year out of education I have told myself I need to escape and go and see different countries and learn about different cultures. My love for Spanish that I gained while completing my Spanish GCSE made travelling to South America seem like the fun challenge that I had been searching for. Additionally, the variety of interesting cultures that exist within the different countries in South America have always intrigued me and I would love to learn more about these differences. My favourite hobby at the moment is playing netball, which I do twice a week, I enjoy this because it allows me to stay physically active and socialise with my teammates at the same time.

I enjoy meeting new people and I am always keen to give anything a go! I would describe myself as an open-minded, sociable, and curious person who enjoys sharing moments with others.

I can't wait to immerse myself in new cultures, meet some awesome people, develop new skills and learn new ways of living on Workaway!

  • More details about your skills

For the past two years I have volunteered as a sports coach twice a week for younger students at my school, teaching them hockey and netball skills as well as general fitness. This gave me experience in teaching, motivating, being patient and creating a positive environment for young people. This allowed me to achieve my Higher Sports Leaders qualification.

I have loved children my whole life and have extensive babysitting and childcare experience. I also love animals!

I have worked as a kitchen assistant at a pizza restaurant since April 2024, this has taught me to adapt when working in a fast paced environment as well as key life skills such as food preparation, washing up, working well in a team and keeping a tidy kitchen. I have also recently taken on a role as a chef at a local cafe which has helped to challenge and extend my kitchen skills and experience.

I enjoy spending time outdoors and don’t mind getting my hands dirty when helping with gardening or similar tasks. I love sports in general, so I’m motivated and not afraid of physical tasks. I have played for my local netball club since I was 10 and I now play for the senior team.

I completed my A levels this year, in which I achieved grades A*AA in physical education, business and psychology. I plan to study sports science at the University of Nottingham in September 2026.

I speak English fluently and achieved a grade 8 (A*) in my Spanish gcse and am currently completing Spanish classes to help develop my skills further.

I’m also quick to learn and adapt, and I’d be very eager to develop new skills during my travels!
