  • Description

I have a strong passion for the outdoors and love exploring nature, especially through my hobbies such as climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and camping. Staying active is important to me and I'm always keen to pick up new hobbies wherever I am. At the moment I'm in Sri Lanka learning to surf, I love it!
I like to relax by reading and writing.

Being helpful brings me a great sense of fulfilment. Using my skills and knowledge to support people and communities gives me genuine happiness and a strong sense of purpose.
Learning new skills and connecting with others truly excites me. The opportunity to do this in a different country, immersed in a new culture and environment is exactly why I’ve joined Workaway :)!

I'm now in New Zealand and have my own self-contained van.

More details about my language interests
I’m really interested in teaching English because it feels like a great way to connect with people and be genuinely helpful. I enjoy supporting others and feel I could make a positive difference! I have experience teaching electrical apprentices, which is one of my favourite parts of my job. I’m patient and always try to be encouraging when I teach. It’s a great feeling to share a skill with someone and see their confidence grow

  • More details about your skills

I’m a UK qualified Electrician with 7 years of experience. The skills I’ve learned by being an electrician are transferable to other sectors of the building trade. I’m confident with powertools and I love to build and create things. For example I converted my first van into a camper van, a few years back!
I have a fascination with how things work and are built. I like to learn and understand, and then recreate for myself.
I really enjoy spending time in the garden. Last year, I lived in Ireland on a property with a polytunnel and big garden area, where we grew a wide variety of vegetables, including carrots, onions, potatoes, and green beans. I loved the whole process; from preparing the beds by clearing them and adding fresh compost, to sowing the seeds. The most rewarding part was harvesting the produce and enjoying the food we had grown ourselves!

I especially like working with people. Not only because it’s fun and I can learn from them and we can help each other, but also because I understand the importantance of human connection.

  • What else ...

I’m a big music lover. When I was living in Ireland I fell in love with the Irish traditional music. I enjoyed it so much that I started taking lessons for the tenor banjo and it really become a passion of mine.

Unfortunately, it was too big to bring with me on this trip!!
